There is no verse in the Bible where Jesus says those exact words.

However, Christians point to several passages as evidence of Jesus’ divinity and worship of him, including:

John 20:28 — Thomas says to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!”

John 10:30 — Jesus says, “I and the Father are one.”

John 8:58 — Jesus says, “Before Abraham was, I am.”

Matthew 14:33 — After Jesus walks on water, his disciples worship him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 28:9 — The disciples take hold of Jesus’ feet and worship him.

John 5:23 — Jesus says that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father.

So the important distinction is: Jesus does not record himself saying the exact command “I am God, worship me.” Christian theology understands his identity and claims throughout the New Testament as establishing his divinity.

Prophecies about violent extremists

The Khawarij
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned about people who would emerge claiming religious justification while committing violence:
“They will kill the people of Islam and leave the people who worship idols.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim
This is particularly relevant to the phenomenon of extremists who attack fellow Muslims while claiming to defend Islam.
They would recite the Qur’an but misunderstand it
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“They will recite the Qur’an, but it will not go beyond their throats.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim
The warning is about religious knowledge being accompanied by a serious misunderstanding of the faith.
They would be young and extreme
He ﷺ described them as:
“Young people with foolish thoughts.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari
He also warned against religious extremism and excess.
Unjustified killing would become widespread
The Prophet ﷺ foretold periods of fitnah and widespread killing, including a time when the killer would not know why he killed and the victim would not know why he was killed.
— Sahih Muslim
The warning against killing innocent people
Islam's prohibition of unjust killing is fundamental. The Prophet ﷺ repeatedly emphasized the sanctity of human life and strongly condemned the killing of non-combatants and innocent people.
The important distinction
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not use the modern word “terrorism.” These hadith concern phenomena such as Khawarij, extremism, fitnah, unjust killing and religiously motivated violence. Applying them to a particular modern organization requires careful scholarship rather than simply declaring that a group is the one being prophesied.

Equal Earth projection.

The UN General Assembly backed an African-led resolution on September 5, 2026, with 164 countries voting in favor, the United States voting against, and six abstaining.

The major difference is that it represents the relative sizes of continents more accurately. Africa, for example, appears much larger than it does on the traditional Mercator map. In reality, Africa is about 14 times larger than Greenland, even though Mercator can make them look similar in size.

Importantly, the UN resolution encourages wider use of Equal Earth; it does not literally ban the Mercator projection.
