This is the current Sallet and Bevor set up that I am using with my St George harness.
I wanted to build something that worked with the gorget on the statue but also allowed great freedom of movement and full protection.
The Bevor straps directly over the gorget. However because of the articulation in the gorget the bevor will drop down. So rather than the sallet having a chin strap it buckles directly to the bevor, solving 3 problems silultaneously. Preventing the bevor from dropping due to the articulation of the gorget, Securing the sallet to the head and preventing a gap from appearing between the sallet and bevor if you look up.

German Melee Helm (Kolbenturnier Helm)

A melee helm (Club tournament) in the German style. While there are no survivals of this kind of helm the are frequently depicted in artwork. They show a distinct single piece skull, this one is in 1.6mm spring steel. The helmet has a spacious fit, allowing the wearer to look back over their own shoulder. The wide ocular is covered by distinct profiled flat bars, in this case forged from 2mm Spring steel that has been gilded.
