At Joy House, we believe film can do more than entertain. Film can create connection, spark conversations, inspire hope and create positive change.
That’s why our festival is about more than simply finding a great film.

We want to celebrate joy, diversity, inclusion and the people using storytelling to make a difference.

This year, we’re particularly proud that our awards recognise different kinds of achievement:
🏆 Best Film, celebrating outstanding filmmaking and storytelling.
🌏 Cultural Impact Award, recognising a film that creates meaningful cultural connection and encourages audiences to see the world through a different perspective.
👩‍🎬 Changemaker Award for Women, celebrating women who are using their creativity, voice and storytelling to inspire change and contribute to a more inclusive industry.

These awards are important to us because success in film isn't only about what happens on screen, it’s also about the impact a story can have beyond the screen.

Flashback to an inspiring week of filming with Orange Sky!🧡

We were privileged to spend time with founders Nic and Lucas, their incredible volunteers, and the amazing "friends" who shared their stories with us. Their kindness, compassion and community spirit are at the heart of *A Clean Start*.

One of the biggest challenges on Her Last Laugh? Casting animals 🐾🎬

For the first time, I auditioned dogs (and yes… a rabbit too 🐰). It wasn’t easy, we had to constantly pivot and adapt, especially in the final edit.

But that challenge pushed me to grow as a filmmaker… working with humans & animals, which I’ve never done before in my previous films. I’m grateful to have worked with a great team.

Sometimes the unpredictable moments create the magic ✨
