📽️🇵🇸This Saturday, Kino Palestine and Transmission 4 Palestine present 𝒯𝑜 𝒶 𝐿𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒰𝓃𝓀𝑜𝓌𝓃 (2024), the award-winning feature film by Palestinian writer/director Mahdi Fleifel, a film about survival, resilience and the violence of borders.

Set in Athens, the film follows Chatila and Reda as they try to save enough money for a way out. When addiction derails their plan, desperation pushes them toward an irreversible decision. A powerful and unsettling portrait of friendship, displacement, and survival on the margins of Europe.

As we close the exhibition "Fictioning Palestine" on Sunday we would like to invite you for a final screening tomorrow (Saturday 27th at 19:00).
Directed by Iraqi filmmaker Kassem Hawal and adapted from Ghassan Kanfani’s novel, Return to Haifa (1982) is considered the first Palestinian fiction film.
As it reenacts the scenes of the Nakba, and mixes archival footage with fictional elements it embodies a strong example of "Frictional images" as coined by Huda Takriti.

The exhibition Fictioning Palestine closes on Sunday 28th, yet we organised a screening for you a day before. On Saturday 27 there will be a screening of one of the exhibited films RETURN TO HAIFA (1982)

The film tells the story of a Palestinian couple who return to Haifa decades after their displacement during the Nakba (1948) in search for their old home. This is the first instance that the exodus was reenacted.

Directed by Kassem Hawal and based on Ghassan Kanafani’s novel Returning to Haifa, the film stands as the first Palestinian-produced fiction film.
