Ms. Diagnosed seeks to spotlight films with female protagonists* whose stories resonate with the lives & experiences of neurodivergent women.

It is a creative response to suggestions from the current health secretary that the UK is experiencing an over-diagnosis of neurodivergent conditions, with little to no acknowledgement of the decades-long under-diagnosis of neurodivergence in people socialised as women.

This film serves as a visual pastiche of colliding and intersecting allegories for neurodivergent experiences.

It's one of the best films of the 21st century. but also...
Everything Everywhere All At Once follows laundromat owner Evelyn Quan Wang as she leaps across the multiverse in a mission to save everything in existence from being swallowed by the endless abyss of a black hole, created by an alternate version of her daughter, Joy. As one of the universes is a rock universe that is what inspired our activity.

Come and watch this wonderful, wacky, weird and world class film on Wednesday, get tickets now!

Calling all first-time film  programmers — applications are open for our New Programmers Initiative! 🎉

So start thinking…. what would you like to see on the big screen?

Is there a film you love that never seems to get shown at the cinema? A hidden gem you wish more people could discover? This is your chance to share it with an audience and create your very first DIY film screening.

With Scalarama the best thing is that anyone can put on any film screening, anywhere so we mainly use venues that you don't usually expect to watch a film in. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

We’ll guide you through the whole process and support you every step of the way.

Two applicants will be successful and each will receive all this:

✨ £150 programming fee
✨ Film licence costs covered (up to £150)
 ✨ Venue arranged by us
✨ 1-to-1 support from the core team — mentoring, advice and encouragement

Don’t be afraid to apply — this scheme is for people with no prior experience. You just need passion, a love of film, a strong idea, and we prioritise those based in Leeds.

Take a look at previous lineups for a bit of inspiration, but we want creativity and originality. If you notice a genre or sub-genre that hasn’t been represented much before, a film from a country that’s rarely shown, or a film providing a unique perspective, go ahead and explore it!
