After seeing it, I completely agree.
It's one of those incredibly rare films where you leave the cinema feeling like you've witnessed something that people will still be talking about decades from now.

One of the smartest decisions Pixar made was changing Toy Story's opening.

Instead of introducing Buzz first, they chose to establish Woody as Andy's undisputed favourite toy before turning Buzz into the disruptor.

That single decision makes Woody's jealousy feel completely believable.

One thing that struck me while rewatching The Matrix was just how revolutionary its central idea really was.

Today, concepts like simulated realities, alternate worlds and virtual lives are everywhere in films, TV and games.

But in 1999, that wasn't the case.
I remember loving The Matrix as a nine-year-old, but not really understanding what was going on until someone explained the basic concept to me. Looking back, it's funny how normal those ideas feel today.

Watching Toy Story as an adult gives the film a completely different meaning.

Woody's attachment to being Andy's favourite mirrors how many of us tie our identity to our careers, while Buzz's journey reflects the moment we realise life might not look exactly how we imagined.

It's one of the reasons the film has remained timeless.

Have you ever reached the point where you've seen a film so many times that you stop appreciating how good it actually is?

That's what happened to me with The Matrix. I'd watched it countless times growing up, and because it's become such a huge part of pop culture, I almost took it for granted.

Rewatching it properly for this podcast reminded me why it's regarded as one of the greatest action films ever made.

It's a bit like hearing Wonderwall after years of avoiding it—you suddenly remember why everyone loved it in the first place.
