Talkies Community Cinema Talkies is a community cinema in North London. All are welcome Talkies promotes variety and diversity in types of films, venues and how the evening is run.

Established in 2013, Talkies community cinema is a different experience to the conventional commercial offering. At Talkies events you will be encouraged to come along early and stay later and have plenty of conversations about the films ...and anything else! You will be encouraged to suggest films … and perhaps host an evening! In short, Talkies is a community-based cinema with a local identity.

Since 2012, Talkies has brought communities together through a shared love of independent cinema. We have built a reputation for championing short films and supporting emerging talent.

Talkies London Short Film awards celebrate outstanding short films made in the past three years.

Talkies 2027 awards are now open for entries.

All screened films will receive a monetary prize and additional awards will be made by audience vote and a judges’ panel.

We’re looking for English-language films that are bold, fresh, and deeply human – stories that surprise, challenge, entertain, and move us. Whether it’s fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental, if your film has something powerful to say, we want to see it.
