During the soviet period the winery occupied the territory of 3 hectares. It received and processed grapes of the species (Rkatsiteli, Saperavi) existing in the local micro zone (Eniseli, Shilda, Gremi). Wine and cognac spirit obtained from it were produced at the preliminary distillation winery. Eniseli winery existed till 1990s, the civil war that broke out in Georgia brought the winery’s produc
tion to the verge of destruction.
“Eniseli-Bagrationi” company has been functioning since 2003 on the basis of the wine marani set up by a famous Georgian wine-maker and public figure Zakaria Jorjadze in 1887 and Eniseli winery which was established later. The company’s founder and owner is Sandro Bagrationi, who is a descendant of Zakaria Jorjadze. The company managed to revive the former Eniseli winery brought to the verge of collapse and destruction as a result of the civil war, as well as to switch it to the western standards and equip it with modern technologies. The company is cooperating with western enterprises; in 2005 it purchased latest Italian technologies. Today the company receives and processes grapes of the species (Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Saperavi) existing in the local micro zone (Eniseli, Shilda, Gremi). The winery’s maximal capacity allows to process 200-2500 tons of grapes. Dry red and white wines, as well as sparkling wine, are produced here. A part of dry white wine produced at the winery is intended for extraction of cognac spirit, and the micro zone of this Georgia’s region is famous for brandy obtained by means of its subsequent ageing.
