Staying active these days comes with its own set of unique challenges, especially when facing a pandemic. Last year, Herbana came up with the KIT to help the busy bees on navigating their day outside of work (from home) life by encouraging them to get moving and remain fit. And the packaging design of the kit is, of course, designed by yours truly!

The theme for this one is ‘urban’, aligning with the young and active target market. It’s inspired by street arts decorating public corners that the city-dwelling youth frequents, like basketball courts and skateparks. Wrapped in geometric shapes, vector illustrations, and balanceMADIA’s bold colours, our design for the KIT emphasizes the genderless aspect of its product line to reach a more general audience compared to Herbana’s (mostly) feminine line, the reliefSARI. Inside, along with Herbana’s balanceMADIA Immusupport products, you’ll also find one of the three collectable colouring cards made by us, Puty Karina Puar (), and Michelle Sherrina () to help you kick your stress away.

If this environmental design seems familiar to you, that must be because you’ve been to Como Park. Yep, we’re the people behind those signages!

The overall approach is straightforward and simple, from the icon design, font, all the way to colours. Considering Como Park has a pretty diverse range of patrons, we wanted to make sure that the signs are legible for everyone. Of course, we still added some sparks to our design. For example, the rounded and ‘wavey’ lines of the icons, giving them a friendly vibe that goes well with the park’s lighthearted atmosphere.

If we were to describe this elegant dinner set by Oma Elly x Manual Jakarta crudely, the Bella Cena, which translates from Italian to ‘beautiful dinner’, is a full-course Italian dining DIY that can be easily served by experienced cooks and amateurs alike (basically everything is pre-cooked). Thus, providing you with a charming dinner filled with three of Oma Elly’s signature dishes to celebrate the season of joy within the comfort of your home without fuss or worry.

We at Malt Studio also participate in the collaboration through our packaging and collateral print designs that include loose-hand illustrations, all of which are heavily inspired by the Tuscan culture and aesthetic. ‘Classic, Tradition, Festive’–those are the three words that drive our design direction for the Bella Cena.

As we’ve mentioned in the previous post, we submitted two logo designs for the KEMENDAGRI rebranding competition. We went with a different approach for this one, and focused on KEMENDAGRI’s duty in accordance with the third commandment of Pancasila instead.

Right before the quarantine, we participated in a logo competition by KEMENDAGRI. We broke down the ministry’s visions and missions and turned it into visuals that we consider to be the best representations of those philosophies.

Alas, we didn’t win. But we’re still very proud of the designs we made, and we wanted to share them with you guys, so...here is the first out of two, which focuses on KEMENDAGRI’s central role in the Indonesian government.
