Let’s Talk Menstruation in Movies.

Today is and what better day than to look around for depiction of menstruation in our films in its most raw and human form.
Jeo Baby’s The Great Indian Kitchen makes an important and necessary statement about how in most households the upholder of these humiliating social stigma and misogynistic practices in the name of periods is no one but the women.

Let women bleed in dignity. Let them breathe. Let them be.

Thanks for the inspiration and the tag 🛑❤️

Bengaluru, this one’s for the ones who still get affected by a black & white frame.

Cinema & Beyond is celebrating a man who didn’t just make films he held a mirror up to the world and asked you to look, really look.

Director. Editor. Cinematographer. Bimal Roy wore all of it, and wore it quietly.

We’re sitting down to talk about one of the most important filmmakers Indian cinema has ever produced and we’re starting where it all gets real: Do Bigha Zamin.
A farmer. Two bighas of land. A city that doesn’t care. And a film that came out in 1953 and somehow still feels like it was made about today.
But we’re not stopping there.

From the rain-soaked heartbreak of Devdas to the quiet dignity of Sujata, from the haunting beauty of Madhumati to the tenderness of Bandini and Parineeta we’ll trace the full arc of a filmmaker who gave Hindi cinema its conscience.

Bring along your favourite Bimal Roy moment, sing your favourite songs for us or simply come and discover one with us.
