Obara'M Review:🎬🎬🎬
Directed by Kayode Kasum
Written by Stephen Okonkwo
Genre: Musical, parenting, betrayal
Story:
Obara'm is an enthusiastic story about parental sacrifice, love, betrayal and responsibility. It is a true Nigerian story that portrays a father’s/ grandfather’s love and sacrifice, the beautiful and incredibly talented child star in the character of Ihunaya and the reluctantly loveable elder sister turned mother. Obara m I would say is moral, relatable and It has so much heart that ignites emotions in you.
The Acting:
Darisimi who played Ihunanya did not just repeat the words in the script, which most child actors do, she was good with inflections. She carried this whole movie on her little shoulders is indeed one of the best if not the best child acting Nollywood has recorded in years. Her interpretation of lines, her reactions everything was just natural and real.
Nancy Isime who played as Oluchi as usual brought her A game to it. Nancy is a good actor no doubt, but in this one, she didn't cut it for me. Her delivery was not so great, there was a feeling of her really trying to fit in the role but didn't click.
She struggled with the her Igbo and 'Wild girl's role.
However, I must credit her effort.
Nkem Owoh will make us appreciate our fathers more and more now I understand why Netflix released it so close to Fathers Day.
The rest of the cast blew it out of the water too something I must say you can expect from an excellent director and a stellar cast.
The cinematography was absolutely breathtaking.
Costumes were beautiful.
Sound all round could've been better.
I give Obara'M 7/10
A must watch.
Watch out for Darasimi Nadi
