Last Sunday, we began our new series, The Promise, a six-part series on the Holy Mass, with our first talk, Talk 1: I Will Bless You.
And we started with a beautiful reminder:
God gives first. ❤️
The word Eucharist means thanksgiving. But before we can give thanks, we first have to recognize what has already been given to us.
Before we reach for Him, He reaches for us. Before we give, He gives. Before we do anything for Him, He loves us first.
The Mass reminds us of something different. We don't come to earn God's love. We come because we already have it. We don't start with what we can give God. We start with what God has already given us. And when we truly receive His love, thanksgiving becomes more than something we say.
So the next time we come to Mass, may we come with open hearts—not wondering, “What can I give God?” but first asking:
“Lord, what are You giving me today?”
Because before we ever say thank You, God has already said, “I will bless you.” ❤️
