Kuchee Talkies is a traveling film festival bringing the best of contemporary South Asian cinema to your doorstep in Karachi.
The name ‘Kuchee Talkies’ literally means a temporary movie theatre. The term was in use for travelling /mobile screens up until cinema halls and theatres replaced these screens. In Pakistan, the collapse of the film industry has meant that erstwhile cinema houses are now parking lots or shopping malls. It is in the context of a dearth of cinema halls; film festivals and generally film going cult
ure that we seek to revive the culture of temporary and mobile screens. These film screenings will take place in popular city centres of Karachi and will be open to the public and free BUT require passes.
