Four months, one week and one river away from its originally scheduled date and location, Siren Screen Series proved that some things are worth the wait. Due to some logistics indirectly related to a bitch named Sandy, the 2012 Siren Screen Series didn't take place until April 25th, 2013. Still, the fourth edition of that series came back bigger and badder than ever before. Thanks to some Manhattan generosity, and by that we mean the one and only Museum of Modern Art, the delay also allowed the series to cross the East River into one of the world's great venues. Record breaking ticket sales and funds raised made this series worthy of its MoMA venue. Of course the all-star collection of talent had already provided its strongest bill ever. Thanks to actress Karen "Duff" Duffy who took her turn as Mistress of Ceremonies, award winning filmmakers like, Daniel Turkewitz, Faiyaz Jafri, Susan Rockefeller and Amy Nicholson as well as live readings from Michael Schwartz and Richard Eagan this line up easily brushed back competition coming from Tribeca. The winning touch however came from the photography screening showcasing work by Coney Island veterans, Bruce Handy, Doug Ross, Daniel Turkewitz, Robert & Robbie Bailey. Tying it all together, Alicia Degener's Coney Island artwork. When the actual "2013 Siren Screen Series" takes place we'll be hard pressed to match this core of talent. Then again, that's a nice *problem* to have. Special thanks to Daniel Turkewitz and Steve Warrington for this album.

The warmest and most sincere Happy-Happy shoutouts to Sydney, Tokyo and Shanghai! Athens, Buenos Aires and New York can wait their turns... Until then, here's Siren's quick look back at 2011(and 2010 and 2009 too) set to Iceland's best musicians not named Bjork and/or the Sugarcubes:

Before falling deeper in the holidays rush, a big thank you to Black Horse Pub for allowing us to use their space. A big thank you to Alicia Degener for turning that space into a Coney-inspired art gallery. Of course all the film peeps including Jane Dorogoyer, Amanda Jencsik, Chris De Pierro, and Larry Sloman get warm thank yous as well. As does Rob Leddy of the Coney Island Film Fest, Michael Schwartz of Coney Artland, Ray Palermo of the late great Shoot the Freak, Rob Burstein of the Coney-Brighton Boardwalk Alliance, as well as the many Save Coney Island representatives like Juan Rivero, Hillary Miller, Beth Bingham and Andrea Coyle. Big thanks also to Carolyn McCrory, wearer of multiple Coney Island hats. Huge thanks to our hostess, Molly Ryman, and our star, Kryssy Kocktail. Most of all however, thanks to the people for just showing up. The list includes but is not limited to Daniel Turkewitz (provider of the fantastic shots below), Sarah White, Michael Rosenblatt, Nick Sturgill, Sandy Busken, Jessica Lynn Curtis, Sharlene Garcia, Michael Lis, and Vincent Longobardi. As Hillary Miller stated, it's not easy to tempt people from their cozy homes on a Wednesday in December, but you guys proved that it can be done. Special thanks to you all and the many others whose names have not been listed. Warm and safe Chrismukkah to all and we hope to do this again soon!
