A highlight reel of this weekends events at Gwynn’s Island, VA. In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Cricket Hill 💐 🇺🇸 🌹
We were thrilled to be able to film the events from this past weekend in Mathews County, VA on Gwynn’s Island.
Whenever we film these historical reenactments and dedication ceremonies I learn so much more about the history of Virginia, Virginians and America and her people.
And that’s coming from a girl raised in the colonial capital of Williamsburg and visiting the trip of Jamestown, Yorktown, and the CW.
Thank you to Michael Rhodes for organizing the weekend’s events. Thank you to Fred Lyon, Laura Jones and the rest of the Mathews County VA250 team.
It was wonderful to watch the reenactments and meet so many of you! Props to everyone from the historical reenactors, to the crew of the Sloop Luna / Colonial Seaport Foundation the delicious food and hospitality of The Hatchery Eatery, Morningstar Marinas At Gwynns Island for hosting the ceremony and reenactment, to members of Youth Virginia Regiment, Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Williamsburg Chapter - SAR, Daughters of the Revolution, Children of the Revolution, 7th Virginia Regiment, 14th Regiment of Foot, 2nd North Carolina Regiment, Fifes and Drums of Yorktown, and the Mathews Museum, NATO, the U.S. Coast Guard station Milford Haven, Gwynn's Island Museum and all the local sponsors and volunteers and donors.
We will be editing a long-form version of the ceremonies and reenactments so stay tuned!
