here's a door in this house that leads somewhere else. Somewhere brighter. Somewhere the food tastes better, the games never end, and someone is always paying just enough attention to you.

All you have to do is stay.

Blind Date with Yarn is my mystery colorway subscription. Each round is inspired by a story I won't name until fulfillment, tucked inside a clue poem that's the only reveal you'll get in advance. Part of the fun is not knowing. Part of the fun is figuring it out anyway.

A world too perfect waits behind a door,
with treats and games you've never had before,
but stay too long and feel a creeping dread,
it ends in buttons, cold and black instead.

August’s Blind Date with Yarn orders have arrived to those who preferred!

This was one of the most fun sets to create.

Heavily inspired by Calcifer, Sophie, and Howl, it’s a great set for those who like bonfires on a cool summer evening.

Time to reveal August’s Blind Date with Yarn!

This months set was inspired by Howls Moving Castle!

A beloved classic movie, but did you know it was a book by Diana Wynne Jones first?

Yes! And it’s a bit different from the movie, and I like both.

I chose to lean into the relationship between Howl, Sophie, and Calcifer.

The main skein is representative of Calcifer and his fiery nature.

I love all the colors in it!

The minis are Howl and Sophie.

Sophie’s is from the dress she wears throughout the story.

And Howl’s is a bit different
is it black? Is it dark green? Well, depends.

I took inspiration from the scene when his hair is accidentally turned black and he makes a mess
.

The stitch marker is definitely inspired by Calcifer!

And finally, the candle from Litt Wick Candle Co. is a wonderful mix of all three characters: lilac, patchouli, smoke, and a bunch of other wonderful scents you would find in Howls castle!

Being an adult comes with a lot of responsibility.

But, it also comes with the ability to treat ourselves like kids.

You know what I mean: we can buy the fun things that make us feel like kids.

And growing up during the Christmas season, I always remember getting an advent to countdown to Christmas.

What better way to do this as an adult fiber artist than with a yarn advent???

It’s winter, so of course the Snow Queen is going to show up!

And isn’t this picture just perfect for her?

Kinda reminding me of Frozen


The Tea Dance is one of my favorite numbers in the suite, and green is one of my favorite colors.

So, this picture is the absolute best.

Says Russian Dance, but really it’s the Dance of Flowers.

Isn’t this picture a perfect capture of the quick transition from Summer to Winter?

Chocolate is one of my favorite desserts, so of course it has to be included.

Has anyone ever had a Sugar Plum? Do they taste good?

Who doesn’t love coffee?

Candied ginger is a great treat!

Is he a wizard? Does he have magic powers? Or is he just more aware of the world than us?

This one was hard to find a good picture, but I love how the costume for the Mouse King turned out for this version of the ballet.

The titular character. Do you prefer a red uniform for the nutcracker or the blue uniform?

And finally Clara!

I really wanted some softer colors for her, but a lot of costumes have her dressed in white.

So, it took me forever to find this one.
