We are very happy an excited to announce that we won first place Best of Tri-County in two categories-Movie Theater and Hot dogs. Our sincere thanks to all who voted for us. Bill was so happy he put on his hot dog suit and was all smiles. It's an honor to have earned the approval of so many patrons and friends of the Super 322 Drive-in Theatre. We strive to present the best movies available and serve good, affordable concession goodies.

During a pandemic that upended lives, broke routines, and mothballed most forms of in-person activities, a funny thing happened in the entertainment business: The drive-in theater saved the cinema. But while it might have been dismissed as another anomaly in a year full of unusual economic blips, th...

Since the coronavirus and social distancing shut down nearly all indoor entertainment venues this summer, outdoor projections of movies may be just the ticket

We love Drive-Ins and the resurgence they are experiencing! Congrats to our friends up north at the Super 322 Drive-In:

Bill and Barb Frankhouser had a rough start when they became the new owners of the Super 322 Drive-In movie theater in 2001. Mere months after the drive-in changed hands, a truck crashed into the marquee and destroyed it.

Thank you to PARADE Magazine for today’s feature, “Although many drive-ins have closed over the years, new locations are opening. Filmmaker Spencer T Folmar is gearing up to debut a new drive-in in Eustis, Florida, in the summer of 2022. It will serve as the country’s biggest drive-in—he’s registered with the Guinness World Records—and will feature five 64-feet-high by 120-feet-wide screens, with three dedicated to first-run movies. “And we’re going to have a screen dedicated to showing classics like Wizard of Oz,” Folmar says.

Stars on a big screen, stars in the night sky—the nostalgic staple of American entertainment is experiencing a most welcome comeback.“I believe the drive-in theater is as much of a great American pastime as baseball, hot dogs and apple pie,” says Denny Pine, 51, a drive-in superfan who has bee...

Eustis Drive-In Story & Need

Dear Eustis,

I am a filmmaker and storyteller. I fell in love with Cinema and Visual Arts going to old single screen movie theatres and drive-ins when I was a kid. It is because of this love of movies that I now am actively involved in preserving and re-inventing the movie going experience. For years, I have been looking for a theatre to purchase to add to our Veritas Theatres chain in Central Florida in addition to our already existing theatres in PA and TX. Early last year, I was struck with this vision that the best way to engage new audiences today and families is to provide them with an experience along with their movie: a nostalgic and innovative Drive-In Movie Theatre to serve the needs of a growing population and economy of tomorrow.

I was born at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, FL and this project is especially important to me, and the land I am looking to purchase is more than ideal. This 5-Screen Drive-In movie theatre that has a Lighthouse in the center is called the Lighthouse 5. We are requesting of the city to purchase 72 acres of commercial real estate on CR 44 next to Cobb’s Tractor and diagonal from Trout Lake. We are working with our neighbors and the city to provide an Entertainment Tourism Destination with this unique concept. Not only will the land be used for a Drive-In Theatre in the first phase of development but we look to also work with Trout Lake and expand their tourism offerings and an additional nature reserve. In future years we look to add some commercial outparcel with retail space and a convenience store on the corner next to Cobb’s Tractor.

My team and I have been looking for real estate in Central Florida for over a year, and though there are other prospects, Eustis is the right city to invest in, and this land is ripe for this type of development. It has been owned by the city of Eustis for over 40 years now, and my real estate company SpenceTF LLC is willing to pay the full assessed value to purchase and secure this land. This Thursday March 12 at 5pm at Eustis City Hall is the 4th and Final vote to purchase and build in Eustis FL. The commissioners need to hear from the community if you want this project or not, and I cannot do this without you. I am asking for your help and to speak on behalf of the Lighthouse 5 Drive-In project. Please let me know if I can count on your support.
