Here's a cool interview about Over The Top from youtube with David Mendenhall that plays Mike and Rick Zumwalt that plays Bull Hurley

Rick Zumwalt himself seems to actually be a whole different personality than what Bull Hurley was in Over The Top

Here's an interesting fact from Messenger Of Death about all of the complete Autocar's at the time that were used to film Over The Top...

All three trucks had actually ended up pulling the basic white tanker that was hooked to Corey Ash's when it had received damage hitting the exploding blazer driving off with the hood flying into the mid air in Messenger Of Death (The differences between the three trucks used to film Messenger Of Death and the timing of the scene will be able to provide you of which truck is which)

So, The third picture in my post show that it's Truck #2 with four fog lights still attached to the bull guard on the front of the truck (Truck #2 had the second pair of fog lights mounted underneath the bull guard on the front of the truck in Messenger Of Death because they had probably more than likely had fallen off of the truck when Over The Top was being filmed when Truck #2 had ultimately pulled off the minor stunt at the end of the chase scene to cut off the White Dodge Pick-Up that had kidnapped Mike) Even the interior shot of over the hood looking out the windshield in Messenger Of Death after the truck had turned around to hit the exploding blazer shortly before it hits the exploding blazer was Truck #2

The first two picture's show that Truck #1 was the truck that was ultimately the cause of the white and green blazer rolling over on the side of the cliff wall to avoid a head on collision with the on coming truck this again also includes the other interior shot of over the hood looking out the windshield in Messenger Of Death shortly before white and green blazer rolls over on the side of the cliff wall to avoid a head on collision with the on coming truck

The fourth picture in my post show's that it is back to Truck #1 that was pulling the basic white tanker with the already rolled over white and green blazer as the truck has doesn't yet have a second bar welded on the bull guard on the front of the truck (Which is also how I know that it is Truck #1 that was ultimately the cause of the white and green blazer rolling over on the side of the cliff wall to avoid a head on collision with the on coming truck that was pulling the basic white tanker) and if you even watch the timing of the scene and watch the already rolled over white and green blazer is that it actually explodes into a ball of flames before truck even hits the already rolled over white and green blazer

The last two picture's in my post with a front view of the truck with the hood starting to fly into mid air (Unfortunately this was Corey Ash's that would be the surviving truck at the time of the scene) show's a second bar was welded to on the bull guard on the front of the truck whether it was the top bent bar or the second black bar under it and the second bar is still visible in my fifth picture of the post for the rest of that scene until the truck eventually drives off with the hood flying into the mid air

I'm wondering that if anyone could actually find picture's of the Autocar's used to film Over The Top when they had belonged to Union Oil Company through Weld-It? Just as Cam Lavin has done with the Duel Truck when it was brand new and also belonged to Union Oil Company

02/22/2023

So, Let's talk about these two appearances from Pink Lightening that had premiered in 1991 (The very first picture of it hooked to the cattle trailer) and from a episode of the new Adam-12 tv series from I am assuming a season one episode that had premiered in 1990 (The second picture and the third picture along with the fourth picture with squad cars along side of the truck)

Although the damage to the driver's side fender that the truck had received from when the truck had hit the exploding blazer when the hood had went flying into the mid air in Messenger Of Death in 1988 that was clearly still shown to be visible on the driver's side fender in The Wizard movie in 1989 seems to be fixed by the time the truck was used in a episode of the new Adam-12 tv series from I am assuming a season one episode in 1990 although the fourth picture of the squad cars next to the truck still show that the hood of the truck was still pieced back together at one time or another in the past near the back of the hood near the driver's side windshield wiper on the truck with a gap pointing towards the mid air and also rubber black bungee cords are the hood straps to hold the hood down

Both Pink Lightening and the episode of the new Adam-12 tv series also show the red rims on the truck that also almost look like a rust color on the tv big screen and than the fifth picture of the younger kids standing beside the truck at a truck show appearance show red rims on the front axle

The last picture in the post is of Corey Ash's truck when he had first found it showing that it is the same truck as the one that kids are standing next to at a truck show appearance with the red rims on the front axle

The first two complete trucks that were used at the time Over The Top was being filmed both had gray rims all the way around the trucks which is why they were both used alot more to film Messenger Of Death

With that all said the truck that was used to film Pink Lightening in 1991 and the episode of the new Adam-12 tv series in 1990 is indeed the truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia currently owns right now

Pink Lightening would of been the last appearance that the truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia currently owns right now would of made before it was sent to the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots a year later in 1992 until Corey Ash would of bought the truck in April of 2010

Also in 1992 the first complete truck at the time Over The Top was being filmed would of been stripped and torn apart with the cab to that truck being put on a Ford van chassis with the younger picture's of Mike and the weights being thrown inside of that cab when the first complete truck at the time Over The Top was being filmed would of been stripped and torn apart, So, That the actual cab with the younger picture's of Mike and the weights inside of the cab that was on a Ford van chassis at the time Over The Top was being filmed could be turned back into a complete truck and painted black with a tank mounted onto the back of it for Freaked that had first premiered in 1993 and than eventually the truck was ultimately painted silver with steel guards installed all over it for it's last appearance in Tank Girl that had first premiered in 1995

The first two trucks that were also complete trucks at the time Over The Top was being filmed had never made any other appearances after Messenger Of Death had completed being filmed in 1988 and unfortunately both of the other two complete trucks at the time Over The Top was being filmed were both scrapped by George Sack himself in April of 2010 shortly after Corey Ash had bought his truck off of George Sack

I figured that it'd be better to update the page's profile picture of a actual picture of the stunt truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia now owns versus an out of sequence camera angle shot from the same scene of Truck #2 that was in the last profile picture for the page now that George Sack has given a timeline of the film of where each truck was used during filming of Over The Top seeing that this page is a page for the restoration of the stunt truck that was used to film Over The Top

So, The Wizard movie...Let's talk about it and the connection it has with Messenger Of Death

George Sack has given a contradicting on which truck was used in The Wizard movie he had told Corey Ash which is who currently owns the stunt truck in West Virginia right now that the truck used in The Wizard movie was the same truck that is now silver that was used in Freaked and Tank Girl while he had told someone else that the truck used in The Wizard movie was the surviving stunt truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia owns right now

So, After further examination of the truck that was used in The Wizard movie a big whole that along with many cracks in show in the driver's side fender of the truck not far behind the driver's side headlight that looks like could be damage from a previous collision and than after further examination of the truck that was used in The Wizard movie the hood looks like it was completely off at one time or another and looks like that the hood was pieced back together in the past at some point with a great big gap at the end of the hood sticking up a little bit into the air right after the center the top of the grill

After all of that was examined Messenger Of Death was rewatched knowingly at the end of the second scene the trucks appear in one of the trucks pulls off a stunt of hitting a exploding blazer and drives off with the hood flying into the mid air and it is known for a fact from what George Sack has said that it is indeed Corey Ash's truck that is from West Virginia that pulls off the stunt of hitting the exploding blazer in Messenger Of Death that drives off with the hood flying into the mid air

After further examination of the scene in Messenger Of Death that hits the exploding blazer and drives off with the hood flying into the mid air it is without a doubt indeed Corey Ash's truck that is from West Virginia that was used during the filming of The Wizard movie a year later after Messenger Of Death was filmed and had premiered

The damage could be seen being done to the driver's side fender in Messenger Of Death during a front view of the truck in my two screen shots before my very last screen shot in the post the damage to the driver's side fender is also seen in Messenger Of Death when the truck is driving away from the already burning blazer in a big fireball while the hood is flying into the air like in my last screen shot in the post

The same truck that was used to film The Wizard movie was also used to film Pink Lightening in 1991 because the same damage that was seen on the truck in The Wizard movie in 1989 was also seen still visible on the truck in Pink Lightening in 1991

That means in 1989 that the original hood that had flown off of the truck on the set of Messenger Of Death was pieced back together and put back onto the truck to film The Wizard movie with a still visible driver's side fender although in 1992 the original hood of the truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia owns right now was placed onto the silver truck when it was black with a tank mounted onto the back of it when they had used the truck to film Freaked in which had premiered in 1993 and also the original hood of the truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia owns right now was still on the silver truck when it was ultimately painted silver in 1995 when the truck was used to film Tank Girl as the truck that Corey Ash in West Virginia owns right now originally didn't have a hood on it again when Corey Ash had first flown out to see the trucks in California and had first bought the truck off of George Sack

Corey Ash has also stated that there is also front axle damage to the truck today and after further examination of Messenger Of Death the front driver's side tire is seen folding back pretty hard during a front view of the truck in my two screen shots before my very last screen shot in the post and the front axle near the front driver's side tire is seen trying to come out from underneath the truck and is even seen coming off the driver's side of the truck when the truck is driving away from the already burning blazer in a big fireball while the hood is flying into the air like in my last screen shot in the post

Corey Ash has said now that he owns the truck watching his truck hit that exploding blazer in Messenger Of Death with his hood flying into the mid air is always a very painful part for him to watch in Messenger Of Death because it makes the restoration of the truck that much harder on him

So, I believe that it maybe time to talk about this man right here seeing that it is Over The Top related...

This man right here would be Carey Loftin which many of you know as the truck driver from the film Duel when most think of his name, But, I personally like to refer to him as Hollywood's real truck driver as he was one of the very few stuntmen with a license in Hollywood that could do stunts with trucks

Yes, Carey Loftin was Sylvester Stallone's stunt driver for the truck in Over The Top for those that haven't figured it out yet as well as the truck driver in Duel, But, Seriously someone should go look at his film credits on imdb and see just how many truck films Carey Loftin was the stunt driver for I think that most would be surprised to learn just how many truck films in Hollywood he was the stuntman for

And besides in 2004 Carey Loftin was indicated in the stuntman hall of fame as probably Hollywood's best stuntman ever

Carey Loftin had ultimately ended up retiring in 1991 at age 77 unless he was needed for a truck film here and there until he had unfortunately passed away at age 84 in the beginning of March in 1998

02/16/2023

So, Many have asked me in the private messages of the page why the trucks were also used in Messenger Of Death or why the surviving truck was used in The Wizard movie or Pink Lightening and in an episode of tv series and why Truck #4 was eventually used in Freaked and Tank Girl...

Well, Let's be real that these Autocar trucks aren't the only trucks from Hollywood that were used in other films as Hollywood does sometimes have a history of using repeating trucks in many different films, But, The trucks from Duel and these Autocar's from Over The Top along with the Peterbilt 379 Patrick Swayze had drove in Black Dog probably made the most appearances in many different films over the years because George Sack had owned these trucks for a long period of time making them available for film use

Aside from these Autocar's from Over The here is the list of recurring trucks in Hollywood

The truck from Duel had also appeared in an Incredible Hulk Episode, Torque, New Nightmare, Doorways, in a season one episode of Emergency, David Lee Roth's music video "She's My Machine" and in some Chevy commercial

The Blue Mule from White Line Fever appears in a 1978 season four episode of Baretta and was also seen on the front cover of the Overdrive Magazine that was seen on the windshield of the silver and red Chevy pick-up at the beginning of Smokey and the Bandit

Rick Yemm's white and purple Freightliner FLD-120 from the first season of Ice Road Truckers appears in the back ground scene Red Hot Blooded American Girl II that had starred Burt Young (Who was also Pig Pen in Convoy) when it was brand new (This one was completely unintentional, But, I'm still including it)

The Peterbilt 377 from Breakdown also appears in House of Frankenstein

The Pork Chop Express from Big Trouble In Little China also appears in a episode of Scarecrow and Mrs. King

The Yellow Bird from Christmas Comes To Willow Creeks also appears in Planes, Trains & Automobiles

The Freightliner FLC-120 from Odd Jobs also appears in a episode of Falcon Crest

The blue Freightliner FLC-120 from Bandit : Bandit Bandit was actually seen in the back ground in Over The Top

A red Freightliner FLD that was used in a season one episode of Masters of Horror was also seen in the butterfly affect 2

The truck from Hijack was also seen in Breaker Breaker Breaker

Callie's GMC Astro from the third season of B.J. and the Bear along with the truck from B.J. and the Bear were both seen in different episodes of Knight Rider

The GMC General from Smokey and the Bandit II was also seen in Any Which Way You Can and the Last Song with Lynda Carter

The GMC General that Pogo Lil is seen driving in the second season of the opening credits of B.J. and the Bear (And was also seen in some B.J. and the Bear episodes) was also used in Willa

The GMC General from the cannon ball run with Burt Reynolds was also seen in a few episodes of B.J. and the Bear

A white International Transtar with blue stripes was seen in episodes of both Airwolf and Knight Rider

The faded orange day cab Ford W-1000 from White Line Fever also appears in The Gumball Rally

A narrow nose White Western Star that was seen in the back ground of the Incredible Hulk Episode that the Duel Truck was featured was also used in Willa

The Kenworth T-600 from Dark Haul also appears in A Very Merry Toy Store

The Kenworth from Thunder Run was seen in the desert scene of Smokey and the Bandit II

The crash scene from Steel Cowboy was used as the crash scene in Coast To Coast making the Outlaw appear in Coast To Coast

The Peterbilt 359 from the first Joy Ride film also stars along side Paul Walker again when it was painted blue before it was painted back black for another film called Suspect Zero where it was eventually destroyed in a roll over during that film production (So that way we're all clear that was only one of the trucks that was used to film the first Joy Ride film)

The Peterbilt 379 from Black Dog that Patrick Swayze had drove also appears in Beat The Devil, Myth Busters, Firewall, Rock Star and Rhett Akins' music video "Driving My Life Away"

The list honestly also probably goes on with alot more than I had just listed as well, Too

So, From George Sack here is what the latest story has been told about the trucks and which truck was which during filming

And I put each truck in order so that way everyone know's which truck is which and by the way as far as we know all four trucks were titled as 1965's

Truck #1. This was the beauty truck for the driving scene's in the film and it was completely unharmed after it had atleast film Over The Top (1987) and Messenger Of Death (1988) that I know of and after Messenger Of Death had completed being filmed in 1988 I believe that it was put on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots for four years until 1992 when the truck was ultimately stripped and taken apart with the cab being placed on the ground in front of a warehouse on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots until it was unfortunately ultimately scrapped by George Sack himself in April of 2010 during one of the clean ups of the back lot the younger picture's of Mike and the weights were ultimately put in the cab of this truck when it was placed on the ground in 1992 (I'll get back to this part of the story during a different truck of the reasoning why the truck was ultimately stripped and taken apart in 1992 as this part of the story is a timeline for one of the other trucks) in Messenger Of Death this was mainly the truck that had pulled the white tanker with the gray bottom

Truck #2. This was also another beauty truck and a minor stunt truck for both Over The Top (1987) and Messenger Of Death (1988) the scene that it had did a minor stunt in was the scene where Hawks had cut off the White Dodge Pick-Up that had kidnapped Mike and in Messenger Of Death it had rammed the rearend of the white and green blazer a few times into one of the other tankers in the film and after Messenger Of Death had completed being filmed in 1988 just like Truck #1 I believe that it was also put on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots the only thing different is that this truck had sat on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots because it wasn't eventually stripped and taken apart like Truck #1 was, So, The truck had ended up sitting on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots for 23 Years until just like Truck #1 it was also ultimately scrapped in April of 2010 by George Sack himself during one of the clean ups of the back lot although before Truck #3 was shipped from California to Corey in West Virginia and shortly before Truck #2 was scrapped the gray butterfly hood with the white stripe was taken off of this truck and I believe the driver's fender was taken off of this truck and all put onto Truck #3 in Messenger Of Death this was mainly the truck that had pulled the black tanker

Truck #3. The stunt truck in both Over The Top and Messenger Of Death and it's also the surviving truck that now resides in West Virginia in which Corey Ash now owns that this page is based off of to watch the restoration of even though it is Truck #3 it is still the truck that had the most screen time because it was the stunt truck which is why Corey decided to save this truck from the scrapper of the three trucks (Corey only had enough money to save one truck from the scrapper otherwise had Corey not of bought this truck it probably would of ultimately saw the same fate as Truck #1 and Truck #2) The way Corey had looked at it is that no matter what truck he had saved it would of needed alot of work to bring it back to life the scene's that this truck was used in Over The Top was when Mike drives the truck starting with the exterior shot before Mike says "Why are you pulling over?", Smashing through the gates and the front door of Cutler's home (With the exception of one drive by night time camera angle shortly before Hawks first pulls up to the gate of Cutler's home...That would of been Truck #2), The hospital night time scene when Hawks finds out that his ex wife has died during surgery before Hawks and Mike walk into the hospital where they find out that the ex wife has died during surgery, it was the truck used inside of the truck wash near the beginning of the film, a camera angle of the top of the exhaust stacks with white smoke coming out of the exhaust stacks shortly before inside of the truck wash scene was also this truck, After Hawks is released from jail and heads to Las Vegas is this truck including when he trades in the truck, after Hawks and Mike leave the phone booth after a talk with ex wife would of been this truck when the song "All I need is you" is playing and the night Hawks decides that him and Mike will sleep in the truck for night is also this truck into the next sunrise morning when Hawks and Mike were doing exercises between Hawks and Mike doing exercises some of the drive by camera angles would of been of this truck, But, Not all of them as some of those camera angles were taken from other scene's of the movie and in Messenger Of Death the surviving truck was also the stunt truck that was used in the scene to hit the exploding blazer when the hood had went flying into the mid air (Corey has stated that there's still damage to the front axle from possibly this scene) In Messenger Of Death the surviving truck had pulled all three tanker trailers here and there (It didn't have as much screen time in Messenger Of Death as much as Truck #1 and Truck #2 did) You can also tell the surviving truck apart from the other two trucks when two trucks were side by side with the surviving truck having a much more higher stance to it where it had sat a little taller than the other two trucks used in the film did (I had included those screen shots in this post along with the stunt with the hood flying into the mid air that it had pulled off in Messenger Of Death) after Messenger Of Death had completed being filmed this was the only truck that was also used to film The Wizard movie (1989) as damage to the front of the driver's side fender during The Wizard movie from a possible previous collision that damage that was seen happening to the truck in Messenger Of Death (1988) when it when it hits the exploding blazer (I had also provided a couple of front view screen shots from Messenger Of Death when the hood was started to fly in mid air to show the damage that was happening to the driver's side fender as seen in The Wizard movie) can be seen and the last time the truck was known to be in service was in 1991 when it was seen in another movie called Pink Lightening (Further examination shows that the truck from The Wizard movie is the same truck that was used in Pink Lightening) and I do have a screen shot of the same truck being used in a episode of some tv series that someone had once sent to me in group on Facebook eventually the truck had sat on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots from 1991 for 20 Years until George Sack had ultimately sold the truck to Corey Ash in April of 2010 and i'd also like to throw out there that at some point in the 1980's someone had gotten a video of this truck going down a drag strip racing another truck and had also got a picture at the same truck with a bunch of kids standing beside the passenger side of the truck

Truck #4. This truck was taken apart sometime in 1986 and had it's cab placed on a flatbed for interior shots (It wasn't a complete truck when Over The Top was being filmed) and it was originally the truck that had the younger picture's of Mike and the weights inside of it when Over The Top was being filmed after Over The Top had completed being filmed the trucks cab was place on the ground on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots until 1992 when frame of Truck #1 and the original hood of Truck #3 was put onto it and the truck was ultimately painted black with a tanker mounted on the back of it for a movie called Freaked that was filmed in both 1992 and 1993 that had first premiered in 1993 (George Sack and Errol Sack had wanted to keep the cabs of the complete trucks from Over The Top red which is why he had stripped apart Truck #1 his initial plans were to eventually put Truck #1 back together as a complete truck) the truck that had the younger picture's of Mike and the weights were also saved and put into the cab of Truck #1 in 1992 when Truck #1 was ultimately stripped and taken apart and eventually two years later in 1995 the black truck with a tanker mounted on the back of it was eventually painted Silver with a bunch of steel guards installed over it for another film called Tank Girl a year after Tank Girl had completed being filmed in 1996 the silver truck was eventually taken out of service and was ultimately put on the back lot of Hollywood Universal Studio Truck Lots with the other three trucks that were used to film Over The Top where it had sat for 16 Years until it was sold to an unknown individual sometime in 2012 based on what George Sack has said

Despite what other's also say about these trucks being Cement Mixers before they were used to film Over The Top they had came from a fleet named Union Oil Company when brand new which is the same fleet that the trucks associated with the film Duel had all came from and the Zeke's Trash Removal Autocar from Maximum Overdrive, So, Seeing that these trucks had hauled fuel with tanker trailers for a living before they were used to film Over The Top I have always wondered if the tanker trailers that the Autocar's had pulled in Messenger Of Death were the tanker trailers that the Autocar's had pulled when they had belonged to Union Oil Company before George Sack had bought them to use to film Over The Top with

The credit of the first four picture's go to Dan Bruno from when he had visited George Sack's place sometime back in 2007
