I believe the real goodbyes to all things we have loved and lost happen in the quiet moments when we are alone with only our feelings. But he deserves a goodbye here too, because I know there are many of you who will remember him and his impact on your life. So here goes an already insufficient attempt to say something worthy of the loss.
Tommy Brown was many things but most of all he was an artist, one of the most talented ones I have ever known. He could feel all the darkness and pain in the world and create beauty from it. To be seen through his lens was a privilege.
He lives on through his three little birds birds, Annie, Maggie and Georgia, who are the greatest legacy anyone could ask for. Those he loved also have his art- films that tell the story of his friends’ weddings, babies being born, family celebrations, the causes he cared about, and quiet moments that caught his observant eye. I’m not sure he could have left a greater gift than seeing ourselves through his eyes. No doubt he is still behind the camera, seeing it all.
We who loved him knew he was magic…and all magic is fleeting. ❤️
