Another aircraft shoot at North Star Aviation in Mankato. This was a traditional photo session right on the ramp at the airport. Nice fleet of training aircraft and a beautiful evening for a session!

Wishing all our fans a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Haven't posted in awhile so thought we'd add some photos from a shoot we did last weekend at North Star Aviation in Mankato, MN. On top of FBO and many other services, these folks train the students from Mankato State University's aviation degree program. Their aircraft have new paint schemes...and "pretty" is an understatement!

Sorry Packer fans...purple and gold are not only Vikings' colors, they are also MSU colors!

We had some requests asking for more information on the Citation shoot we posted earlier this week, specifically was the head-on image done on a runway/taxiway and how many shots did it require?

No runway needed! We did the whole shoot in a darkened hangar and while we took dozens of shots for this single composition, we ended up with a final set of just under 50 to create the completed artwork.

The little lights in the background that look like they could be runway or taxiway lighting? They were actually light from under the hangar door. We used it for the effect.

The Citation Excel is a medium-sized business jet which cruises at 440 knots and holds up to 9 passengers...a gorgeous machine! This one got the black canvas treatment last week...

It's all about the light.

Using a Harley Davidson Softail, here are three examples of how differing light can affect a composition. During the photo shoot, neither the camera nor the bike was moved. We simply took several different images by lighting the subject differently. Each final image was a selective combination of the perfect images needed to create the mood.

Three compositions shot in a simple hangar with a host of assorted tools and equipment scattered around as well as other aircraft parked very close by. The black canvas method allows us to selectively highlight only the elements in the scene that add to the composition. No Hollywood studio required!

A local to Heat & Glo designer, Jeff Bartelt from Eagle Vista Studio has featured the Revo in his basement studio. The awesome mixture of the Revo’s natural flame color and LED back-lighting truly make this an awe inspiring install! It really helps bring out the fact that No One Builds a Better Fire!
