There seems to be a little social media kerfuffle happening regarding a potential closure of the iconic Musso & Frank Grill and the current, undeniable state of Hollywood and Hollywood Boulevard.

A couple of days ago, the California Post published an article regarding the homeless situation on Hollywood Boulevard and specifically the homeless situation in front of Musso & Frank’s, which is located on the boulevard.

The article didn’t appear to get much social media traction until real estate businessman Rick Caruso posted a video summarizing the Post article, as well as other issues in CD13 and Hollywood.

The assumption that Musso’s is closing due to rampant homelessness in the area is false, and Musso’s clapped back at that assertion today.

I personally don’t believe M&F is going anywhere anytime soon. They are turning 107 this year! Incredible!

That said, two things can be true at the same time. Hollywood Boulevard has a slew of shuttered businesses, empty storefronts and homeless people everywhere.

Approximately 5 years ago, I myself had to step over a passed out homeless person in front of the Hollywood Boulevard entrance of Musso’s in order to enter the establishment. I told the hostess my experience and I was met with indifference.

I rolled my eyes at the hostess flat out ignoring my complaint. However, to me, it was typical daily life in Hollywood that we have to deal with.

I’ve been back numerous times since, as I love and support M&F. Even when I nearly cried in front of the Mexicans (a line from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), I’ve returned. The incident: I was admonished for turning on a tiny disco light to see if it worked. Said light is in the photo, it was a birthday present and we were sitting at the Rick Dalton/ Marvin Schwarz table. That’s my defense. In reality, I was mortified I did anything unacceptable in a restaurant, especially such an iconic, historic place that serves the best sand dabs.

Personally I look forward to celebrating many more years of Musso & Frank Grill on Hollywood Boulevard! What about you?!

Paramount Reportedly Considering Leaving California as State Readies Lawsuit Over Warner Bros. Discovery Merger.

David Ellison's confidants are said to be urging him to relocate his corporate headquarters out of the state.

Citing “people familiar with the discussions,” Semafor news website reported that Ellison is being “pushed” to consider relocating out of state, which would also move $30 million in planned spending out of California, if Attorney General Rob Bonta sues to block the deal.

Twelve states, including California, challenged Paramount's takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery on Monday, filing a lawsuit that argues the $81 billion mega merger would "extinguish competition" in Hollywood and threaten jobs across the industry. https://abc7.la/bsSl8Y

Television City, historic production studio in LA, could be sold.

Via NBC4 LA:

Television City at Beverly Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue is expected to hit the market.

It sits behind the Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles' Fairfax neighborhood and has served as a stage for some of Hollywood's biggest productions, such as "American Idol," "The Carol Burnett Show" and "The Price Is Right."

CBS sold the studio back in 2019 to private real-estate firm Hackman Capital. That firm is reportedly battling a bill of debt in the millions.

A spokesperson for Hackman Capital sent the following statement to NBC Los Angeles on Saturday:

"As an owner of studio assets in multiple U.S. and international markets, we have seen firsthand how Los Angeles studio real estate faces significant pressure from high production costs and uncompetitive tax incentives. Television City is a local treasure, home to decades of iconic productions, and we remain in active discussions with our lending partners as we carefully evaluate all alternatives available for its future.”

NBCLA also reached out to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass' office, which said the mayor will "continue to fight for tax credits, incentives and less red tape at the federal, state and local level to bring more productions back to LA."
