HplusF design lab Our practice at H o d g e t t s + F u n g is extraordinarily diverse.

We are an interdisciplinary studio of architects and designers, pioneering over three decades of innovative architectural design, advanced material fabrication, and imaginative restorations of cultural landmarks. The creative scope of the arts today is such that architects produce films, sculptors synthesize sound and light, and composers navigate the curves of visual aesthetic. Nothing, it seems,

escapes the touch of the artist, who is increasingly determined to explore the margins of each discipline in a search for new creative resonance. We have built our design philosophy on the holistic view that every aspect of our surroundings, from tableware to thoroughfares, is a participant in the human experience, and that the architect has a right and an obligation to employ this arsenal of experience in the creation of a compelling environment. Distant views, the pulse of traffic, the immediacy of an historic artifact, and the delight of the user’s sensibilities compose the mosaic of references and inspirations that give purpose to our design. The versatility of our work is mirrored in our spatially intimate and colorfully eclectic workshop... natural light fills the Culver City warehouse we call our creative home, with wood beams and skylights extending above our heads, digital renderings and pencil sketches co-mingling on drawing tables, and vernacular discards enlivening our walls and reawakening as furniture. We celebrate the material-minded eccentricity beating at the heart of the Eames tradition... iconic presence is balanced with accessible imagery, assertive geometry is tempered by natural surroundings, and industrial products are modulated by native materials in the designs we conceive here in our studio. Governed by the eye of the viewer and the dynamics of motion, our aim is to design spaces that impel physical interaction, injecting users into environments that re-animate the senses.

With its bright colors, use of unconventional geometric forms, and dramatic sitting, Towell Library was deliberately designed to be in strong contrast to the architectural sensibility of its surrounding ivy-colored neighbors. https://buff.ly/2Nvtsgg
