Celebrating the Walk of Fame’s 60th anniversary!

I was honored to help unveil a new mural on Hollywood Boulevard that celebrates 60 years of Walk of Fame history. As locals and visitors return to the boulevard, this mural will engage and serve as a fitting reminder of the Walk of Fame’s resiliency and iconic status in Los Angeles.

Thank you Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Ian Robertson-Salt and Art Share-LA for your vision and bringing this new piece of public art to Hollywood.

On Thursday evening, Hollywood lost one of its dearest friends and biggest supporters: beloved former Councilmember Tom LaBonge. Tom was “Mr. Los Angeles” and incredibly passionate about our city, especially Hollywood and so many of the things that make our community unique. Tom was a regular at Musso and Frank, always attended the Hollywood Christmas Parade, and was a longtime champion of the Walk of Fame. Tom had deep relationships in Hollywood with community leaders, civic organizations, schools, LAPD, LAFD, and so many individual residents, business owners and more. He was also an ambassador to the rest of the world through the Sister Cities program that he championed for many years.

The Hollywood community send its thoughts, prayers, love and support to Tom’s family and friends including his wife Brigid, children Mary-Cate and Charles, his brothers, and all those who knew and loved him.

Hollywood will miss you, Tom, but you will always be a part of the Hollywood story. In the heart of Hollywood, you will always be in our hearts.

Over the last few weeks, countless Angelenos have taken to the streets in solidarity with the Black community. The has not only played host to numerous gatherings, including yesterday's march, but has set a proud, peaceful, positive example for the rest of Los Angeles. Hollywood's most enduring quality is its beautiful diversity, and it is a place where everyone should feel welcome.
