Its been a while, a very long time, we have not posted as the journey has not been a good one, and I didn't want to post until there was a Happy ending...so now is the time to share Ollies story ....it started Aug 2024 with cysts between his toes from a grass allergy, I was at the time taking him to an internal medicine specialist, who gave him Prednisone. This should only be taken for 15 days max, he was on it for 60 days...
Prednisone is a very powerful corticosteroid that suppresses the immune system and reduces inflammation...
The steroid created too much cortisol and he broke out in massive welts, it also shot his immune system, causing large sores that became infected with multiple infections.
She then put him on antibiotics , one that was creating him to vomit, he was on 3 different antibiotics, and anti nausea meds. The infections were not healing, his body became immune to the antibiotics, he was in a very bad state, and I was fearful I would loose him.
Through a neighbor, a walking dogie buddy she gave me the name of a holistic vet that also practices regular medicine, she saved his life, everything she did was opposite to the specialist, its been a year of hell, but finally I have my gorgeous boy back.
He still has a few sores , areas where I am told the fur will never grow back, these are 80 % , we still have a little way to go.
As you will see by the next pics he is back to his old self, a Big thank you to Diane his breeder and good friend who was with us through this journey, even at 2 am in the emergency, and Dr Hershman who many times kept her office open late for us, seeing us on many emergencies, and my friend Karene who helped me dress his wounds and was physically there on some very scary days and nights....Thank you...thank you .
