Separate the business from the personal. Empathy, I've been told, is a weakness. What if you're an empathetic SMB?
What do you let go? How can you avoid triggers for clients? The truth is you can't. You can take measures to be as thoughtful as possible and there will always be chatter.
There were a lot of people who ordered in the beginning and didn't stick with me when I lost my Elle, a month later my mother, who's birthday was yesterday. I did have a pop-up that wasn't solely focused on today, and it helped me to not be in my feelings.
The last two years have been extremely challenging due to erratic policies and the attention they take up, so I challenge myself repeatedly to show up, create new opportunities for my small business and keep providing surprise & delight.
Scent taste is personal and I enjoy hearing from reviews in person and digitally how you make them meaningful in your spaces. Thank you for that gift!
This year I did not have an opt-out for today. I have two surgeries coming up and my mind has been centered on them for the last few weeks. I wish everyone a lovely day and please be gentle with yourself.
