Happy Birthday, Joe Burns ! Your handle says it all, doing you and making me laugh since 1989! 😂

This photo was taken right as my Mom and my Brother were to walk me down the aisle the day I married . I was feeling super nervous, stressing out about the timing, and having a hard time taking my "planner" hat off, when out jumps my brother from the bushes, scaring the absolute @%&* out of me!! I burst into total laughter, that I’m sure everyone heard. It was exactly what I needed to drop my nerves and walk towards my future.

That hilarious moment has become the epitome of our relationship - and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for always knowing when I need to laugh Joey, and for loving my Babies the way you do ❤️ I hope you have the best day.

Dear Followers,

Today, Dec. 3rd, is Julia's birthday. So it seems only fitting to give her the day off from posting, and instead hand the reins to me, her Husband, to share a few thoughts on the woman at the center of my world.

I first met Julia in NYC in 2008, when we were both hustling acting careers. She had short black hair, was bartending at a since-closed megaclub called Earth, and had completed a stint at stunt school. On our first date (which we didn't acknowledge as a date at the time), she told me stories of her time in Charleston SC, which included running over a fire hydrant, among other things. I just about fell off of my barstool laughing. She was the sweetest, hottest, most intelligent, and interesting person I'd ever met. Needless to say, I fell fast, and I fell hard.

14 years, a marriage, two kids, and a house later, and I'm still smitten. Those that know her are unsurprised to learn that she is the best mom in the world. She is the hearthstone of our family, the roots that feed our tree.

I say two kids, but in fact Julia has a third - this business, which is more than a business for her. She has fed it, nurtured it, encouraged and cajoled, pushed and dragged it into existence. She has overcome every life obstacle that could be thrown at it, and never ever given up on it or stopped believing in it. I couldn't be prouder, watching it grow and blossom in the warmth of her unrelenting love.

Julia, you deserve every happiness this world has to offer, in business and in life. Roan, Ava and I love you to the sun and back. Happy Birthday, Boss Babe

✨ Giving Tuesday ✨ One of the personal truths behind Vessel Brooklyn, is that it began as Art Therapy. Art had always given me an outlet when I was struggling, and I hoped that pouring that love and energy into giving to others would make things hurt just a little bit less. I learned that the pain and the heartache never goes away, your heart just learns to somehow grow around it. But the more you give, the more you let the light in, for yourself, and for those around you who need it.

My love for the holiday season changed in my early years in NYC. What was once "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" started to feel like Marty McFly's fading family picture. My sister, Maggie, had just passed away, and then my father, Joe, shortly after. My brother Joey, my sister, and I, all share this birth month of December, which only made celebrating without them here feel that much worse. The holiday season became too difficult to navigate and this is largely why Vessel Brooklyn was born.

In the spirit of this Giving Tuesday, and the issues that are incredibly important to myself and my family, we are choosing to support the life saving work of Together We Rise, RAINN, and the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. I hope you'll join us in doing good this , even if a smile is all that you have to give. As cliche as it may be, it's worth the reminder that we never. know. what people are struggling with, especially those who we interact with in passing. What's stopping you from wishing your FedEx man/woman the best day EVERRR?! I guarantee it will make you BOTH feel great 🙌🏼

My 3.5 year old is obsessed with all things Halloween, and with everything going on in the world right now, I’m going to let him squeeze every last ounce of joy out of this festive month. Pulling out the skeleton treat bags a little early this year, in hopes of surprising my best Guy💀🌈✨ I hope someone brings you a spooky treat today too, we could all use one!
