Ureche Upholstery & Home

This custom built mid century sectional was made for my clients home. Literally. And it didn’t leave until it came to UU&H for restoration.

Check out that before! This beauty was made to last, and last it shall!

Fabric: Wilder by

The original back cushions were teeny tiny. My client has kiddos, so naturally they didn’t stay on the sofa 😄
As a mom to three, I understood the assignment! I made the back cushions to fit extra snug so they stay put (or require extra effort from little hands).

What an honor to work on such a beautiful piece 🛋️

Loom woven cotton velvet. 1800’s iron back frame. 30 hours of hand pleating and hand stitching. I almost didn’t post this one, because I don’t want you guys to start bringing them to me 😆
But I worked too hard on this piece for it to not make my portfolio.

I know we’re all sick of hearing about AI, but this is the PERFECT example of the value in human hands. I didn’t have modern help on this piece. Just textiles. Just my hands. Just a needle and thread. There was no other way to reupholster this frame. It was incredibly difficult, and honestly felt a little sacred. I had to trust fully in my hands as the only tool available to me. AI can’t do it. Modern technology can’t do it. Factory machines can’t do it. Not even 100 year old upholstery tools could do it.

My hands. Pure work. Just…art.

Can we vow, right now, to forever value this? Human work. Human imagination. Human artistry.

Linen claw foot wingback? Yes please!

Working with linen is not for the faint of heart, but the feel is unmatched!

Curved vintage sofa, reimagined. We modified the arms, all new inserts, and reupholstered in a beautiful geometric velvet.

Fabric: Kermit by Greenhouse Fabrics, Anna Elizabeth line

What a statement piece!

This sofa, endearingly dubbed the “monster couch” due to its sheer mass, is finally complete 🥳

To date, the largest and most difficult sofa I’ve ever reupholstered solo. Nothing was standard, nothing was simple, especially not flipping it back and forth to staple.

Originally with scrolled arms, the client wanted to modernize the shape a bit. With some ingenuity I was able to bring her vision to life!
A bright, beautiful, velvet masterpiece. A statement to boot!

Captains Chair Pt. 2

Admittedly, I wanted to show the full traditional upholstery process..but I brought my four year old to work one day and I tossed him my phone to watch Bluey for an hour so I could actually *complete* said traditional upholstery process. So we missed a bit of filming.

I am a Mom, and a real person 🫶

But look how sweet this antique captain’s chair turned out! If you missed the story on this one, watch Pt 1 a few reels back.

I found an inscription inside with a name dated October 29th, 1902. I am assuming a makers mark 😍

All new upholstery done traditionally, just as the ship Captain would have sat 🚢⚓️

Welp. This is the largest, and heaviest sofa I have ever tackled solo. Not really a sectional as it is ONE PIECE but basically a sectional. It fills my entire upholstery space 🥲

One hour of tear down in 30 seconds. Probably 2-3 more hours of demo to go ✌️
Send happy thoughts today.

Honestly, you guys are NOT ready for this glow up!! I’ll reveal the fabric today in my stories. Follow along to watch this monster vintage Vanguard sofa transform (or me be smooshed to de@th, whichever comes first)

Pleats for days !!

What makes this before and after so dramatic? Not just the fabric!

New foam, interior repair, dacron, more foam, more dacron. There’s so many unseen layers that go into the finished look and functionality of a piece.

I love how the oversized brass nail heads pop on this fabric 😍
