"Life is pain, highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something." -The Princess Bride. Remember this? Life does have pain. Emotional and physical pain. Physical pain tends to heal and emotional pain and linger. Because of my role as a doula, when I think of pain I am thinking of labor. Would you believe me if I said I had a nearly PAIN FREE birth? It is possible. It happens all the time. We are conditioned to think of the theatrical version of labor, the screaming, the red face, the unimaginable pain. Pain sells. A movie with a woman understanding her body and the process of birth would be pretty boring. Are you curious on how to have a pain free birth?

Do you know any determined women? I know I do! I cherish their example and the strength it gives me to keep going. It could be argued that there needs to be another scaled to measure a woman in labor. Such determination! I'd love to hear your story of a strong woman!

Birth means so much more than the separation of one being into two. A child is created, a mother is born and new possibilities exist. Now, it seems, anything is possible.
