CineFestival San Antonio and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center mourn the passing of Evelyn “Evy” Ledesma Galán. Evy was a champion of Latino storytelling both in her collaborations with her husband, filmmaker Héctor Galán, and as the founder and longtime director of the CineSol Film Festival in the Rio Grande Valley.
Always a great supporter of Latino storytelling, her commitment to film production and exhibition in Texas was reflected in works like THE FORGTTEN AMERICANS, VISIONES: LATINO ARTS & CULTURE, LOS LONELY BOYS: COTTONFIELDS AND CROSSROADS, A MIGRANT’S MASTERPIECE: THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF ARCHIBISHOP PATRICK FLORES, THE ROAD FROM CHRIST TO CONSTANTINE, CHILDREN OF GIANT, WILLIE VELASQUEZ: YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE, and OUR TEXAS, OUR VOTE, along with dozens of films screened at CineSol under her direction.
Our condolences and love to Héctor Galán, her family and friends.
