We were shocked and heartbroken to hear about the tragic loss of Jay Ruskey and his wife Kristen. I had the opportunity to work with Jay to produce a series of promo and instructional videos for his company . He was a fascinating and passionate guy, and made me by far the best cup of coffee I’ve tasted ☕️💔

The 16,000 sf, two-story building features media and technology studios, classrooms, ceramics studio, study pods, offices, a double-height terraced reading/lecture space, and revitalized historic spaces. We had two days to extensively shoot the project, and work with models to create this set of images and a short film.

Admiring the twisting curtain-wall facade of the Mira Tower in San Francisco. How cool is it to see the details of this interesting high rise design by ?
“MIRA is designed to respond to the need for dense housing in the Bay area with 40 percent of the units designated below market rate. Reinterpreting the city’s classic bay window in a high-rise context, the building’s migrating bays allow for a high-performance facade that is 51 percent opaque without inhibiting nearly 180-degree-views in every unit. Further reducing energy consumption and neighborhood impact during construction, MIRA's sophisticated curtain wall facade system allows the bays to be attached to a repeatable structural slab from inside the building, reducing the need for a tower crane on-site.”

Production began last week on a film we’re making about an innovative new building in San Francisco. “1 De Haro” will be the first mass timber building in San Francisco to use CLT and the first multi-story building of its type in California. The manufacturing process is quite sustainable and allows for exposed panels with a beautiful, warm, natural wood finish.
We spent three days shooting the project and shot almost ten interviews with key figures, including Jeff Brink and Robin Landis from DCI Engineers, Peter Pfau and Matt Covall from Perkins and Will, Darin Peters from Hathaway Dinwiddie, and John Fisher and Yvonne Fisher from SKS Partners. Thanks to everyone for your time and for telling us about this amazing project. I can't wait to share this story. Keep an eye out for this exciting film!
