Extremely grateful for this generous donation from Wellsville alumni! 🤍

They graduated 50 years ago and returned to Wellsville to celebrate by going on spree of charity and giving. Alumni dropped of big checks to important local organizations like the Hart Comfort House of Allegany County, Wellsville NY Nathaniel D**e Museum, David A. Howe Public Library, Wellsville High School Theatre, and the Babcock Theatre Preservation Society. In total the classmates donated $3600 around town!! "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve" in action after fifty years!! Pictures of all the donations in the story linked into the comments:

Longest written memory from our survey.
I’ll never forget my first date at the old theater in our small town. The building itself had a kind of endless charm—faded red curtains, a flickering marquee, that seemed to hold decades of memories, and the musty scent of aging velvet seats. The floorboards creaked underfoot as we walked in, and the soft humor small-town chatter filled the air. We were both nervous, exchanging sly glances while the hum of the crowd added a sense of quiet anticipation. The flickering glow of the vintage projector, the smell of buttery popcorn, and the gentle mummer of the audience made the whole experience feel intimate and nostalgic. It wasn’t just the movie we were watching; it was the feeling in that cozy, almost forgotten space, where time seemed to slow down, and everything felt simpler. Even after the credits rolled, the small-warmth and quiet magic of the evening lingered, leaving me with a memory I’d treasure for years to come.

Thanks to Cassie Hawley who organized a great group of volunteers for the Babcock booth yesterday. Tim, Angela, Kathryn, Mindy, Jackie, Ann, Elissa, Margaret Barry and Helen. We had so many people visit our booth that we ran out of popcorn. We lost count of how many people walked through the theater lobby to see the architectural projects of the ASC students, check out our puppets from our puppet project, reliving memories of going to the theater and staying out of the rain! Great job everyone!
