Making Now-Time

Μια σειρά δημόσιων προβολών και συζητήσεων που στόχο έχει να προβληματίσει για τη σύνδεση ποιητικής και πολιτικής, εστιάζοντας στους τρόπους με τους οποίους κομβικά ζητήματα του παρόντος μπορούν να αναλυθούν με βάση έργα λόγου και εικόνας. Θέλουμε να στρέψουμε την προσοχή στο Jetztzeit, τον “χρόνο-του-παρόντος”, εμπνευσμένοι από τον όρο με τον οποίο ο Γερμανός φιλόσοφος Βάλτερ Μπένγιαμιν περιέγραψε την ενεργητική και εποικοδομητική σύνδεση μεταξύ του παρόντος και συγκεκριμένων στιγμών του παρελθόντος που αναδύονται εκ νέου με νέα δυναμική. Θα προβληθούν πρόσφατα αλλά και κλασικά φιλμ/βίντεο που μπορούν να ενεργοποιήσουν μια τέτοια σχέση με το παρελθόν, ανοίγοντας ένα διάλογο για τις πολλαπλές κρίσεις του παρόντος (κοινωνικές, πολιτικές, πολιτιστικές και οικολογικές).

Το Making Now-Time είναι μια πρωτοβουλία των Gene Ray (Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών, Γενεύη), Γιάννη Παπαδόπουλου (Εκδόσεις Ομπλός, Πανεπιστήμιο Πάτρας), Άννας Παπαέτη (Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο) και Sarah De Wilde (Βέλγιο).

Linking poetics and politics, this program focuses on processes of visual and textual making as means for the interpretation of contemporary urgencies. “Now-Time,” a concept from Walter Benjamin, invokes an energetic constructive connection between the present and particular moments of the past. This program presents new and historical film/video with potential to activate such a relation, and to stimulate discussion about the multiple crises of the present (social, political, cultural and ecological).

An initiative by critical theorist Gene Ray (HEAD, Geneva), artist and publisher Yiannis Papadopoulos (University of Patras, Omblos editions), musicologist and researcher Anna Papaeti (Panteion University) and artist Sarah De Wilde (Belgium), it will take place in central Athens from September 2019 to April 2020.
