A brave Jack Russell Terrier named George gave his life to protect five children from two attacking dogs in Manaia, New Zealand.

George confronted the aggressive dogs and stood between them and the children, suffering severe injuries during the attack. Sadly, his injuries were so serious that a veterinarian had to euthanize him.

His owner, Allan Gay, said George’s courage helped protect the children from the attack.

The two attacking dogs were later impounded by the South Taranaki District Council and were expected to be put down.

The Coritiba players entered the field at Couto Pereira Stadium alongside adorable caramel-colored dogs as part of the β€œSetembro Caramelo” (Caramel September) campaign, which aims to encourage people to adopt pets and give them a loving home.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with the SOS 4 Patas animal welfare organization. The players also wore special patches on their uniforms, while messages on the corner flags reminded fans that these dogs were looking for new families.

Firefighters from the West Springfield Fire Department were responding to a vehicle fire on Interstate 91 in Massachusetts when they began checking nearby storm drains to make sure no fuel or other contaminants had entered the drainage system.

Then they made an incredible discovery β€” a dog was trapped inside one of the drains.

The dog, Ally, had been missing for 34 days. She was rescued and taken to the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, where staff recognized her as a missing pet they had been searching for.

Ally was eventually reunited with her owners, turning an ordinary response to a highway car fire into an unexpected rescue that brought a missing dog safely home. ❀️🐾

After heavy rains in Kerala, India, a minor landslide left a mother dog and her two newborn puppies trapped beneath the mud.

Local people heard a faint whimper coming from somewhere nearby. They followed the sound and began digging, eventually discovering the mother dog buried in the mud with her two tiny puppies beside her.

The three had reportedly been trapped for nearly three days without food or water. The puppies were trembling and covered in mud, while their mother was unable to free herself.

Rescuers quickly pulled all three to safety. They washed the mud from the puppies, dried them with towels and wrapped them in cloth to keep them warm. πŸ₯Ίβ€οΈ

After being freed, the exhausted mother stayed close to her puppies as they were cared for. Her cries continued, and to those witnessing the rescue, it looked like she was overwhelmed after surviving such a terrifying ordeal.

The rescuers then built a small temporary shelter for the family beneath a telephone pole, protecting them from the cold rain while providing food and water.

No one knows exactly how the three survived beneath the mud for so long. But without that tiny cry, the rescuers may never have known they were there.

Firefighters in Lake Station, Indiana, rescued approximately 40 dogs from a house fire on Tuesday morning, March 24.

Several fire departments, including the Hobart Fire Department, worked together to battle the fast-moving fire and safely get all the dogs out of the home.

Thankfully, no dogs or people were injured. ❀️🐾

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the coordinated response and teamwork of the firefighters helped ensure that every dog made it out safely.

During heavy rain, a police cruiser hydroplaned, struck a guardrail, and left the officer unconscious as flames began spreading through the engine compartment.

His K9 partner escaped through a damaged rear door, then did something incredible.

The dog grabbed the rescue handle on his handler’s vest and dragged him across the wet highway, pulling him farther from the burning vehicle.

When another officer arrived, the K9 was standing over his unconscious partner and barking for help.

The officer survived and is now recovering.

The β€œAuMigos do Pai Eterno” project was created by the Sanctuary Basilica of the Divine Eternal Father in Trindade, GoiΓ‘s, Brazil, to give vulnerable stray dogs a safe place to rest, eat, and stay protected. 🏠🐾

As part of the initiative, small dog houses with food and water bowls are placed around the sanctuary and nearby areas, giving homeless dogs a little shelter and comfort.

The project also provides veterinary care, vaccinations, and spaying and neutering, while promoting responsible pet ownership and raising awareness about animal abandonment. β€οΈπŸ•

As devastating wildfires spread across Los Angeles, Jacob Deutsch knew that animals were also in desperate need of help. πŸ₯ΊπŸ”₯🐾

A lifelong animal lover and horse enthusiast, Deutsch began using social media to offer his help to animal owners affected by the fires. He then drove his 55-foot horse trailer into areas including Palisades, Malibu, and Topanga to help get animals out of danger.

He ultimately rescued more than 90 animals, including horses and donkeys. Some rescues took him dangerously close to the flames, at times coming within about 100 feet of the fire. 😒πŸ”₯🐴

After bringing the animals to safety, Deutsch temporarily housed many of them at his own property while their owners dealt with the devastating situation.

Despite the risks, he said he would continue helping β€œas long as it takes” for the fires to subside. ❀️
