LEARNING TO PRAY RESTFULLY, FRUITFUL AND STRATEGICALLY
Let’s talk about prayer.
Many of us especially those in Pentecostal churches (“ba pente”) and Christians who are familiar with the language of prayer spend time praying. But the honest question is: Do we truly understand how to pray effectively? If prayer is powerful and is our means of communicating with God Almighty, at what point does it produce tangible results?
Over the years, I have met people who have said to me repeatedly, “You don’t behave like a typical Christian. It’s as though your faith produces results.” That observation reveals something important: perhaps there is a gap in what we call prayer and the way we practice it.
I am not claiming to have mastered it. But when we look at biblical figures such as Solomon, Jabez, Abraham, and Elijah under the Old Covenant and even Paul and Peter under the New Covenant we see one consistent truth: a prayerful life changes a person. It transforms character, sharpens discernment, produces wisdom and ultimately influences outcomes. Their lives bore visible fruit.
So where is the problem?
Often, it lies in our understanding of God and of prayer itself. If we do not revisit and refine our theology, we risk normalizing failure while claiming to represent Jesus Christ. But that is not the essence of faith. Faith should produce excellent results: results that reflect the nature and glory of God.
People are drawn to faith that demonstrates integrity, transformation and meaningful outcomes. Authentic Christianity is not biased or theoretical, it is practical and transformative.
It is not about how long we pray but how well prayer empowers us to live, think, decide and act. True prayer aligns us with God’s wisdom. It births ideas, clarity, courage and strategy. That is how prayer empowered our spiritual forefathers, they received divine insight and became sought-after bearing solutions in their generation.
