2004. 2004 Al-Futtaim Carillion introduces the “Target Zero” safety initiative across its business. Al-Futtaim Carillion complete the Dubai Autodrome for Union Properties. Al-Futtaim Carillion were awarded the contract to construct the largest Toyota Lexus Auto complex at Dubai Festival City. Al-Futtaim Carillion become main contractor for the Festival Centre development of Dubai Festival City and commence with excavation and substructure works followed by construction of the superstructure.


2003. Al-Futtaim Carillion commence civils and infrastructure works at the Burj Dubai Downtown site for Emaar Properties PJSC. New strategy unveiled to reflect new culture and increased customer focus based on providing high quality, sustainable solutions and services under its declared Core Values.


2002. Al-Futtaim Carillion commences initial works at Dubai Festival City constructing office, installing Global Village infrastructure and new roads. Al-Futtaim Carillion in JV with Nasa Multiplex, commence work on the construction of 6 residential towers in Dubai Marina.


2002. Majaz Canal project implemented to improve the water quality and environmental conditions in the Al Khor and Khalid lagoons, Sharjah.


1999. Tarmac plc announces the de-merger of its minerals and construction businesses. The latter is launched on the London Stock Exchange as Carillion plc.


1998. Al-Futtaim Tarmac commences excavation earthworks on Dubai Marina with follow-on contracts for quay walls, infrastructure, services and roads.


1996. Al-Futtaim Tarmac completes work on Za’abeel Interchange in Dubai.


1994. Al-Futtaim Wimpey renamed Al-Futtaim Tarmac following the £600 million Tarmac/Wimpey asset swap agreement whereby Tarmac plc exchanged its worldwide housing business for George Wimpey plc construction and minerals businesses.


1993. Al-Futtaim Tarmac awarded the contract for the construction of Deira City Centre.


1992. Mushrif Reservoir Complex in Dubai and Sajaa LPG Plant Expansion in Sharjah, contracts commenced.


1989. Work commences on ADCO’s Habsham civils and accommodation packages in Abu Dhabi.


1987 / 1981. Dubal’s ‘DEEP’ project commences construction of additional Potline 4.


1980. Al-Futtaim Wimpey Civil Engineering execute major civil engineering works including Mafraq to Tawif highway, Abu Dhabi Sewage Works, Dubai to Al Ain Road, Margham oilfield initial work in Dubai, White Cement Works in Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain Clinker Grinding Plant and Cement Works.


1978. Al-Futtaim Wimpey Civil Engineering established in the Northern Emirates.


1977. Al Wimpey Roads and Construction formed in Abu Dhabi.


1976. Turnkey project including civils and M&E works commenced to build the Dubai Aluminium Smelter (Dubal).


1974. Al-Futtaim Wimpey LLC registered as a local Company with shareholders Al-Futtaim Group and George Wimpey Plc.


1972. Al-Futtaim Group – George Wimpey joint venture commences construction of Al Maktoum Bridge.


1956. First agreement made between George Wimpey and Al-Futtaim Group.


1930. George Wimpey Construction becomes active in UAE. Al-Futtaim Group established as a trading enterprise.
