We were interested in this building as a potential relocation option for the Trak, following our forced departure from Toorak Gardens. Unfortunately, the City of Mitcham seemed fixated upon selling, rather than making it available for use, and not only that, their preferred option seemed to be redevelopment, rather than use. It's incredibly difficult to find any existing building, let alone in a suitable area such as this, that has the right ambience and can be adapted to suit our needs.
Once the writing was on the wall, and the building was for sale, there's simply no way a cinema operator stands a chance against a property developer.
It's just what we all need - another generic assortment of commercial and residential tenancies.
Blackwood, and wider Adelaide, will be poorer for this lost opportunity.
