Sensory Movie Day Coffs Harbour

Sensory Movie Day Coffs Harbour Sensory Movie Day is an inclusive event for families/carers with special needs children and adults t

Sensory Movie Day was started by Chanelle Avison- a mother of 3 children on the Autism Spectrum- who wanted going to the movies to be an enjoyable experience for all families, hers included. The lights, sounds, smells, sitting still, being quiet, etc. is a lot to process and for some families it was just too overwhelming to even try. Chanelle spoke to the manager of her local Birch Carroll and Coy

le cinema to gauge interest in holding a movie day for special needs children and their families. Together they worked on the event and Sensory Movie Day was launched in August 2011. Today Sensory Movie Day is run in 35 locations across Qld, NSW, SA, NT and WA.
