Director Rob Sitch and the Working Dog team created an instant Australian classic with this 1997 comedy that celebrates suburban battler culture with genuine affection rather than mockery. Michael Caton makes Darryl utterly loveable, with the film's low-budget aesthetic and endlessly quotable dialogue only adding to its charm. Anne Tenney brings warmth to Sal, Stephen Curry is perfect as the narrator Dale, and Eric Bana's small role as con-man son-in-law earned him wider recognition from his TV comedy days. The film's David-versus-Goliath story and celebration of family resonated so deeply it became part of the national vocabulary; A working-class family from Melbourne, Australia fights city hall after being told they must vacate their beloved family home to allow for infrastructural expansion.

Writer-director Oliver Stone draws on his own Vietnam combat experience to create the most visceral and morally complex film about the war. The 1986 film won Best Picture and Best Director Oscars for its unflinching portrayal of combat's chaos and the moral rot that can consume soldiers. Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe create iconic opposing forces, while the young cast including Forest Whitaker, Johnny Depp, and Keith David bring authenticity to the enlisted men. Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings underscores the tragedy. Stone's achievement is presenting war without heroics, only survival and loss; Chris Taylor, a neophyte recruit in Vietnam, finds himself caught in a battle of wills between two sergeants, one good and the other evil. A shrewd examination of the brutality of war and the duality of man in conflict.

Director Terry Gilliam brings his distinctive visual imagination to create a modern fairy tale set against Manhattan's gritty reality. The 1991 film seamlessly blends magical realism, while Robin Williams delivers one of his finest dramatic performances, balancing Parry's childlike wonder with glimpses of the broken man beneath. Jeff Bridges makes Jack's journey from selfish cynic to reluctant hero utterly convincing, while Mercedes Ruehl won an Oscar for her tough, loving Anne. Gilliam's film asks whether redemption is possible and answers with unexpected grace; A former radio DJ, suicidally despondent because of a terrible mistake he once made, finds redemption in helping a mentally unstable homeless man who was an innocent victim of that mistake.

Smart, witty Hollywood satire that works as both crime comedy and insider commentary on the film industry. John Travolta delivers his coolest performance, making Chili effortlessly charismatic as a mobster who realises criminals and producers operate by similar rules. The 1995 film's screenplay crackles with sharp dialogue and observational humour about how movies get made. Gene Hackman brings desperate energy to the hack producer, while Rene Russo shines as the former scream queen seeking respectability. The supporting cast - including Danny DeVito's hilarious turn as a narcissistic movie star - create a gallery of Hollywood types. It's effortlessly entertaining; A mobster travels from Florida to Hollywood to collect a debt and discovers that the movie business is just as sleazy as the Miami underworld.

This June, The Revival House at the Como Theatre will partner with RAC for a special cinema takeover celebrating 100 years of Roadside Assistance in Western Australia.

The opening night of The Revival House's June program on 3 June will feature a screening of The General (1926) a silent film classic presented in original 35mm film. Across the theatre, the space will be transformed with vintage-inspired styling and nostalgic touches, including RAC-branded lolly bags, heritage vehicle displays, and archival nods to RAC’s roadside assistance history woven throughout the venue.

Doors will open at 6:30pm, with pizza available on arrival and the screening commencing at 7:20pm.

Buster Keaton co-directs and stars in this 1926 silent masterpiece that remains one of cinema's greatest action comedies. The film's elaborate train sequences-shot practically with real locomotives-create genuine thrills alongside perfectly timed physical comedy. The General has been recognised as a landmark achievement in visual storytelling, action choreography, and comedic timing and remains astonishing a century later; After being rejected by the Confederate military, not realising it was due to his crucial civilian role, an engineer must single-handedly recapture his beloved locomotive after it is seized by Union spies and return it through enemy lines.

Director Martin Scorsese reimagines the 1962 thriller as a fever dream of guilt, violence, and biblical retribution. Robert De Niro delivers one of his most terrifying performances, making Max Cady an unstoppable force of vengeance covered in religious tattoos and spouting scripture while committing unspeakable acts. The 1991 film operates as both thriller and morality play - Sam's buried sin comes back to destroy everything he holds dear. The film examines masculine responsibility and the failure of law to protect the innocent, creating genuine dread; A convicted ra**st, released from prison after serving a fourteen-year sentence, stalks the family of the lawyer who originally defended him.

Due to very popular demand, and incase you missed it, we're thrilled to be screening Twilight again THIS SATURDAY!

Director Catherine Hardwicke adapts Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel into a moody supernatural romance that launched a cultural phenomenon. The 2008 film leans into the Pacific Northwest's misty forests and grey skies, with cinematographer Elliot Davis creating a dreamy, desaturated aesthetic that mirrors Bella's emotional landscape. Stewart and Pattinson's chemistry - awkward, intense, and all-consuming - captures teenage obsession, while the supporting cast of vampires brings athletic grace to baseball-playing-in-thunderstorms and tree-climbing romance; When Bella Swan moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest, she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who reveals himself to be a 108-year-old vampire.
