Nervegna Reed Architecture is an award wining architectural practice that extends into media, art and public installation. The practice has worked on a number of public installations for The Next Wave Festival, the Vizard Foundation, via farini (Milan) including media installations for the Centre for Contemporary Photography, The Melbourne Festival, Singapore Festival and The Rotterdam Biennale. T

he founders Anna Nervegna and Toby Reed are also involved in Higher Education Leading Masters’ Studios leaders at the University of Melbourne and Teaching Associates at MADA. Anna Nervegna completed her Bachelor of Architecture with Honours at RMIT and pursued a Post Graduate in Cinema Studies and Art Theory at the University of Melbourne. Anna received a government supported studio residency at Gertrude Artist Spaces and an Australian Arts Council Grant and Research stipend and residency to Via Farini Art Gallery in Milan Italy. She later was granted a Masters Scholarship and Stipend with the University of Melbourne. Toby Reed completed his Bachelor of Architecture at RMIT and completed a Masters in Cinema at Latrobe University. His Thesis ‘The Six-Gun Similacrum was later published in America. Toby’s direction of the documentary “Dr Calligari Moves to the Suburbs – The Architecture of Edmond and Corrigan” (2013) further investigates the firm’s interest in the graphic nature of the architects drawing; creating unity between subject and content which is a new territory in documentaries on architecture.

RIP Frank Gehry >> here Frank is checking out ’s South Yarra backyard for a big fish pavilion >> is in the background along with Sue Dance, and hand is shielding the sun as he takes the photo. Gehry’s analog phase is often eclipsed by the later (populist) digital phase. The early work was like a Rauschenberg combine, treating the world as pre-existing readymade objects to arrange in space or over exiting buildings (like his house). We visited him again in his office almost ten years later and he showed us through his model workshop and archive.

Congratulations to our director Dr Toby Reed for receiving a AIA fellowship last night.

Our Salvation Army Benalla Hub opened this weekend with a great community celebration. One of the highlights was the Salvation Army band. The program combines the renovation of the old church with the addition of a food bank, community kitchen, counseling rooms and social spaces in an arrangement of shed-like forms plugged into the 1991 church building.
