Founded in 2012 by film historian Lee Gambin, Cinemaniacs was created with the intention of making cinema a truly unique experience. Screening retrospective films across all genres, Cinemaniacs allows audiences to see their most beloved films on the big screen again, or for the first time. Collaborating with acclaimed directors, writers, actors, producers, academics and composers, Cinemaniacs guarantee Melbourne film lovers cinema like never they have ever experienced before!

BUFF kicks off this Thursday with a sold out session of THE DEVILS (1971). If you missed out on tickets, never fear, BUFF’s program has so much good stuff going on!

We are honoured to be co-presenting The Films of Elaine May, screening back to back at this Friday, from all-new scans/restorations. If this isn’t enough, absolute legend will be introducing ISHTAR (1987). This is going to be magic!

2026 program reveal! The Cinemaniacs team are so excited to share part one of our 2026 lineup with you all. Dates are still yet to be confirmed, but we will be back in Feb 2026 kicking off with THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK (1987).

Love to our beautiful community for their support this year and to the Astor Theatre and their amazing staff. Let’s just keep talking about movies for ages, for Lee. Live forever!
