Looking for something to watch this weekend in Sydney? 🎞️ Don’t miss the Australian premiere of 'Bye Bye Love' directed by Isao Fujisawa, screening at Art Gallery of New South Wales this Saturday (9 May) from 2:30pm.

A pair of star-crossed lovers take flight from society in Isao Fujisawa’s surreal road trip across 1970s Japan. Blending guerilla filmmaking with psychedelic poetics, 'Bye Bye Love' reimagines 'Bonnie and Clyde' (1967) as a q***r, countercultural fever dream. When nihilist Utamaro meets Giko, a magnetic, genderfluid drifter, their volatile bond sparks a spree of subversive acts that spirals into violence. Stealing a convertible, the pair bolt from the stifling conformity of the city toward a fleeting vision of freedom.

Playful, stylish and defiantly anti-establishment, 'Bye Bye Love' is the sole narrative feature of filmmaker Isao Fujisawa. Long considered lost, this landmark of 1970s q***r cinema – a spiritual successor to 'Funeral Parade of Roses' (1969) – returns in a new restoration.

Looking for something fun to do in Sydney? 🎞️ Don't miss this screening of master director Yasujiro Ozu’s silent film 'A Story of Floating Weeds' [浮草物語] (1934) with live music, taking place on May 31 (Sun) at 2pm. Internationally acclaimed musician, Mauro Colombis, will accompany the film.

“Rich in backstage atmosphere and class-conscious insight, A Story of Floating Weeds was one of Yasujiro Ozu’s final silent films, and it displays his complete mastery of the form. With a vivid sense of character and the world of rural Japan, he sketches a poignant tale of family secrets, jealousy, and creative community, buoyed by grace notes of humanist observation and by luminous black-and-white cinematography.”
