Following the final screening of L'heure d'รฉtรฉ on August 11, Cinรฉma Galeries will present a retrospective dedicated to one of Taiwan's most celebrated filmmakers from August 13 to September 3. Together, these screenings continue our mission of introducing Belgian audiences to the richness, diversity, and humanistic spirit of Taiwanese cinema.
As Yi Yi beautifully reminds us: โSince the invention of cinema, human life has been extended at least three times over.โ Through film, we experience lives beyond our own, discover different cultures and generations, and find reflections of ourselves in the stories of others.

๐ฌ Het filmfestival L'heure d'รฉtรฉ: Taipei loopt stilaan ten einde, maar de filmreis gaat verder met de Edward Yang Retrospective in Cinรฉma Galeries!
Na de laatste vertoning van L'heure d'รฉtรฉ op 11 augustus presenteert Cinรฉma Galeries van 13 augustus tot 3 september een retrospectieve van een van de meest gerenommeerde Taiwanese regisseurs. Met deze filmselectie blijven we het Belgische publiek laten kennismaken met de rijkdom, diversiteit en menselijke diepgang van de Taiwanese cinema.
Zoals in Yi Yi zo mooi wordt gezegd: "Sinds de uitvinding van de cinema is het menselijke leven minstens drie keer zo lang geworden." Film laat ons in het leven van anderen stappen, andere culturen en tijden ontdekken en onszelf herkennen in elkaars verhalen.
Met klassiekers als A Brighter Summer Day, A Confucian Confusion en Yi Yi verkent Edward Yang thema's als familie, identiteit, menselijke relaties en maatschappelijke verandering. Zijn films blijven generaties en culturen overstijgen en nodigen uit tot reflectie.
