[Practicing Refusal Collective em Salvador]
Neste último fim de semana aconteceu em Salvador um encontro de parte do Coletivo Practicing Refusal com um grupo de intelectuais, curadoras e artistas brasileiras.
O Practicing Refusal, fundado pelas intelectuais estadunidenses Saidiya Hartman e Tina Campt, aproveitou a vinda de parte de seus integrantes para o Brasil a propósito da Bienal de São Paulo para este momento de trocas. O encontro teve como tema central a reflexão sobre as possibilidades e limites de tradução das experiências negras nas diásporas.
O evento foi promovidopelo FICINE (Fórum Itinerante de Cinema Negro) e pelo The Sojourner Project, academia itinerante de Black Studies do Coletivo Practicing Refusal através do The Princeton Collaboratorium for Radical Aesthetics, com o apoio do Goethe Institut de Salvador.
Nele, além das integrantes do FICINE (Janaina Damanceno, Janaína Oliveira, Tatiana Carvalho e Kênia Freitas) estiveram presentes as brasileiras Lêda Maria Martins, Ana Maria Gonçalves, Dione Carlos, Grace Passô ,Safira Moreira, Cíntia Guedes, Izabel Melo, Amaranta César, Denise Carrascosa, Luciana Brito, Barbara Cruz, Fernanda Souza, os integrantes da Coletiva Gira (Aquiles Coelho, Amanda Oliveira e Diogo Oliveira), Glória Figueiredo, Gabriela Leandro e Raquel Souza (na brilhante tradução).
Do Practing Refusal estiveram presentes Tina Campt, Saidiya Hartman, Arthur Jafa, Cameron Rowland e Zakiyyah Iman Jackson.
No dia 07 de setembro, o Coletivo participa da 35a Bienal de São Paulo, em conversa com a curadora Diane Lima.

Last weekend, part of the Practicing Refusal Collective met with Brazilian scholars, curators, and artists in Salvador.
Practicing Refusal, founded by the US scholars Saidiya Hartman and Tina Campt, profited from the fact that some of its members had come to Brazil for the São Paulo Biennial to establish this moment of exchange. The central theme of the meeting was a reflection on the possibilities and limits of translating Blackness in different Diasporic contexts.
The event was organized by The Sojourner Project, the mobile Black Studies academy of the Practicing Refusal Collective through The Princeton Collaboratorium for Radical Aestheticsm, in collaboration with the Itinerant Black Cinema Forum (Ficine) and the support of the Goethe Institut in Salvador.

On September 7, the Collective participates in the 35th São Paulo Biennale in conversation with curator Diane Lima.
