The Meeting House - Uptown Toronto

The Meeting House - Uptown Toronto We call ourselves a "church for people who aren't into church"; we want to create safe spaces for spiritual seekers to come and ask questions.

Permanently closed.

Our mission is to honour God by proclaiming the irreligious message of Jesus and fostering loving communities of fully committed Christ-followers. We are a multi-site church with 18 communities that meet in movies theatres, renovated warehouses, and other rental spaces, in different cities throughout Ontario, Canada. The Meeting House is part of a family of churches called the Brethren in Christ (BIC Canada).

When God opens our eyes, we put all authorities in their proper place. We know Jesus as Lord, so that we would not allow fear to dominate our lives, or let empire oppress us or those around us.

Our Story

We’re a church that exists to grow loving communities of Jesus-followers who live and share his irreligious message. We value community, simplicity, and peace with a mission to share the gospel and care for people.

We gather on Sundays across multiple locations for teaching, music, prayer, and volunteering. Our teaching is focused on the life and message of Jesus as found in the Bible, always with an emphasis on practical application to our own lives. We also hang out during the week in homes to develop relationships, further study and apply Sunday’s teaching, and care for one another and our neighbourhoods. This is what we call Home Church, and it’s kind of the best thing we’ve got going.

Our hope is to create safe places for spiritual seekers to come and ask questions, connect with our community, and explore faith. Interested in joining us this week? Head to www.themeetinghouse.com for more information.
