💥 Destacada presencia chilena en Cannes Docs, la sección dirigida al género de no-ficción de Marché du Film.

Este año se llevará a cabo por primera vez el Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase, una colaboración inédita entre Chiledoc y ProImágenes Colombia, en el que participarán dos proyectos chilenos:

» "El niño niña y la orka gótika", una co-producción entre Chile y Argentina, dirigida por Sidka Saavedra Vera, y producida por Constanza Schmidt, Sidka Saavedra Vera y Claudia León.
» "Papito corazón", una co-producción entre Chile, Alemania y España, dirigida por Tana Gilbert, y producida por Paola Castillo, Dirk Manthey, Wendy Espinal y Carolina Astudillo.

Por otra parte, en el Spain Showcase participará una co-producción entre España, Chile y Colombia:
» "Artefactos de guerra", dirigido por Jorge Caballero, y producido por Anna Giralt y Diego Pino.

💥 Strong Chilean presence at Cannes Docs, the non-fiction section of the Marché du Film.

This year, the first-ever Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase will take place — an unprecedented collaboration between Chiledoc and ProImágenes Colombia — featuring two Chilean projects:

» "The Boy Girl and the Gothik Whale", a co-production between Chile and Argentina, directed by Sidka Saavedra Vera, and produced by Constanza Schmidt, Sidka Saavedra Vera, and Claudia León.
» "Burning Daddy", a co-production between Chile, Germany, and Spain, directed by Tana Gilbert, and produced by Paola Castillo, Dirk Manthey, Wendy Espinal, and Carolina Astudillo.

In addition, the Spain Showcase will feature a co-production between Spain, Chile, and Colombia:
» "Artifacts of War", directed by Jorge Caballero, and produced by Anna Giralt and Diego Pino.

👁 "El niño niña y la orka gótika" es uno de los dos proyectos chilenos seleccionados en el Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase en Cannes Docs del Marché du Film. En este espacio los equipos mostrarán un extracto de 10 minutos del documental, además de hacer un pitch en frente de destacados representantes de la industria documental internacional.

Este proyecto es una co-producción entre Chile y Argentina, dirigido por Sidka Saavedra Vera, y producido por Constanza Schmidt, Sidka Saavedra Vera y Claudia León.

Sinopsis:
Sidka, director de la película, se sumerge en la escena gótica drag underground de Buenos Aires a través de su lente. Mientras registra al artista drag poco convencional, Orka Gótika, en su ascenso desde la escena under hasta la fama internacional, emprende a su vez un viaje personal de autodescubrimiento, llegando finalmente a comprender su propia identidad como persona trans.

In this space, the teams will screen a 10-minute excerpt of their documentary and present a pitch in front of leading representatives of the international documentary industry.

The project is a co-production between Chile and Argentina, directed by Sidka Saavedra Vera, and produced by Constanza Schmidt, Sidka Saavedra Vera and Claudia León.

Synopsis:
Sidka — the director of the film — dives into Buenos Aires' underground drag scene through his lens. As he follows the unconventional drag artist Gothik Whale during his ascent from the underground scene to international fame, in return, he embarks on a personal journey of self-discovery, ultimately coming to understand his own identity as a transgender man.

👁 "Papito corazón" es uno de los dos proyectos chilenos seleccionados para el Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase en Cannes Docs del Marché du Film, un espacio en que los equipos podrán presentar un extracto de 10 minutos del documental y hacer un pitch en frente de destacados representantes de la industria internacional.

Este proyecto es una co-producción entre Chile, Alemania y España, dirigido por Tana Gilbert, y producido por Paola Castillo Villagrán, Dirk Manthey, Wendy Espinal y Carolina Astudillo.

Sinopsis:
Camila y su familia reconstruyen la imagen de su carismático padre estafador a través de fotografías, registros judiciales y recuerdos fracturados por su violencia.

The project is a co-production between Chile, Germany and Spain, directed by Tana Gilbert, and produced by Paola Castillo Villagrán, Dirk Manthey, Wendy Espinal and Carolina Astudillo.

Synopsis:
Camila and her family reconstruct the image of her charismatic swindler father through photographs, court records and memories fractured by his violence.

El próximo lunes 18 de mayo se llevará a cabo el Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase en Cannes Docs, un espacio del Marché du Film dirigido especialmente al género de la no-ficción. Dentro de los dos proyectos chilenos seleccionados se encuentra "Papito corazón", el segundo largometraje documental de la directora Tana Gilbert.

En 2022, Tana también participó en esta instancia con su documental "Malqueridas", donde además recibió el Premio Alpha Panda y que fue uno de los primeros logros para su exitoso recorrido internacional.

Next Monday, May 18, the Docs-In-Progress Chile & Colombia Showcase will take place at Cannes Docs, a section of the Marché du Film dedicated specifically to non-fiction cinema. Among the two selected Chilean projects is "Papito corazón", the second feature documentary by director Tana Gilbert.

In 2022, Tana also participated in this showcase with her documentary “Malqueridas”, where she received the Alpha Panda Award — one of the first milestones in the film’s successful international journey.

El proyecto documental chileno-argentino "La linda" recibió el premio Raggioverde Subtitling Award en Visions du Réel, luego de participar en el VdR-Industry.

Dirigido por Francina Francina Carbonell, y producido por María Paz González (Chile) y Gema Juárez Allen (Argentina), fue parte en esta plataforma de coproducción y financiación. El premio que ganaron consiste en la creación de subtítulos e incluye la traducción a otro idioma.

Sinopsis:
Tatuna (89), una anciana adinerada aferrada a su mansión en Mendoza, enfrenta el regreso de su hija desde Chile y una batalla por la herencia, solo para descubrir que su reino es una ilusión: tierras áridas, deudas imposibles y un pasado que la atormenta más que el futuro.

The Chilean–Argentine documentary project “La linda” received the Raggioverde Subtitling Award at Visions du Réel, after taking part in VdR-Industry.

Directed by Francina Carbonell and produced by María Paz González (Chile) and Gema Juárez Allen (Argentina), the project participated in this co-production and financing platform. The award consists of subtitle creation, including translation into another language.

Synopsis:
Tatuna (89), a wealthy elderly woman clinging to her mansion in Mendoza, faces the return of her daughter from Chile and a battle over the inheritance, only to realize that her kingdom is an illusion: barren lands, insurmountable debts, and a past that haunts her more than the future.

La coproducción entre Chile y Francia "Obras muertas" es parte de la competencia Burning Lights del festival suizo Visions du Réel, sección que destaca obras que exploran y desafían el lenguaje, las estructuras narrativas y la estética del cine contemporáneo.

El largometraje documental, dirigido por Elisa Sepulveda Ruddoff, producido por Elisa Sepulveda Ruddoff, Rocío Romero, Daniela Camino y Fabrizio Polpettini, tuvo su estreno mundial este jueves en el festival.

Sinopsis:
En el norte de Chile, donde el desierto cae al mar, pocos pescadores habitan un límite. Parecen subsistir a pesar de los ejercicios militares que los invaden cada año. Obras Muertas descifra un territorio y una resistencia.

The Chilean–French co-production “Above the Waterline” is part of the Burning Lights competition at the Swiss festival Visions du Réel, a section that highlights works exploring and challenging the language, narrative structures, and aesthetics of contemporary cinema.

The feature-length documentary, directed by Elisa Sepúlveda Ruddoff and produced by Elisa Sepúlveda Ruddoff, Rocío Romero, Daniela Camino, and Fabrizio Polpettini, had its world premiere this Thursday at the festival.

Synopsis:
In northern Chile, where the desert meets the sea, a few fishermen inhabit a borderland. They seem to survive despite the military exercises that invade them each year. Above The Waterline deciphers a territory and a resistance.

"El niño niña y la orka gótika" participó en el DocuLab de FICG y se llevó dos reconocimientos: el Premio de , área de industria de FIDBA, y el Premio Caffeine, empresa de postproducción con sede en Ciudad de México y Nueva York.

El proyecto es una coproducción entre Chile y Argentina, dirigido por Sidka Saavedra Vera, y producido por él junto a Constanza Schmidt y Claudia León. Participó en esta sección de industria del Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara, que ofrece un espacio de encuentro, creación y acompañamiento para proyectos documentales en desarrollo.

"The Boy Girl and the Gothik Whale" took part in the DocuLab at FICG, where it received two awards: the Prize from FIDBA’s industry section, and the Caffeine Prize, granted by the post-production company based in Mexico City and New York.

The project is a Chilean-Argentine co-production, directed by Sidka Saavedra Vera and produced by him alongside Constanza Schmidt and Claudia León. It participated in this industry section of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, which provides a space for networking, creation, and mentorship for documentary projects in development.

El documental “Calle Cuba” está participando en el Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara, en la sección de Largometraje Iberoamericano Documental y también es candidato al Premio Magüey.

Esta película es dirigido por Vanessa Batista, y es una co-producción entre Chile, Cuba y México. Recientemente tuvo su estreno en el Festival de Cine de Miami, tal como lo comentan Vanessa y su productora chilena Claudia Olivera desde Guadalajara.

The documentary “Calle Cuba” is participating in the Guadalajara International Film Festival, in the Ibero-American Documentary Feature Competition, and is also a contender for the Premio Magüey.

The film is directed by Vanessa Batista and is a co-production between Chile, Cuba, and Mexico. It recently premiered at the Miami Film Festival, as Batista and its Chilean producer Claudia Olivera share from Guadalajara.

El cortometraje “El final de los tiempos” tuvo su estreno mundial en la Competencia de Cortometraje Iberoamericano del Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara FICG.

El miércoles 22 de abril fue estrenado este corto documental, dirigido por Mao Osorio e Ismael Morales, y producido por ellos junto Joaquín Nercasseau, que explora cómo un grupo de personas con esquizofrenia realizan una película sobre el fin del mundo.

Sinopsis:
Los miembros de un taller de cine en un centro de rehabilitación psicosocial para personas con esquizofrenia se reúnen para crear una película sobre el fin del mundo. Mientras intentan alertar a las autoridades sobre la inminente llegada de un asteroide, el grupo enfrenta los desafíos de la autorrepresentación en el cine. A través de la improvisación, reflexionan sobre sus propias experiencias, miradas y vínculos con la vida y la muerte.

The short film “The End of Time” had its world premiere in the Ibero-American Short Film Competition at the Guadalajara International Film Festival FICG.

On Wednesday, April 22, this documentary short—directed by Mao Osorio and Ismael Morales, and produced by them alongside Joaquín Nercasseau—was premiere. The film explores how a group of people living with schizophrenia come together to make a film about the end of the world.

Synopsis:
Members of a film workshop at a psychosocial rehabilitation center for people with schizophrenia gather to create a movie about the end of the world. As they try to alert authorities to the imminent arrival of an asteroid, the group confronts the challenges of self-representation in cinema. Through improvisation, they reflect on their own experiences, perspectives, and relationships with life and death.

El proyecto documental "Artefactos de guerra", coproducción entre España y Chile, fue seleccionado para participar en el Spain Showcase en Cannes Docs, del Marché du Film.

Cannes Docs presentará ocho showcases este año, en los que los proyectos seleccionados podrán hacer un pitch y mostrar un extracto de diez minutos frente a tomadores de decisiones, programadores y agentes de venta. "Artefactos de guerra", dirigido por Jorge Caballero, y producido por Anna Giralt (España) y Diego Pino (Chile), participará junto a otras cuatro producciones españolas en esta sección.

Sinopsis:
En una feria de armas, “Artefactos de guerra” entreteje realidad y ficción para explorar el complejo mundo de las armas no letales y su impacto en la sociedad, la política y los derechos humanos.

At an arms fair, Artifacts of War weaves together reality and fiction to explore the complex world of non-lethal weapons and their impact on society, politics, and human rights.

El proyecto, dirigido por Francina Carbonell, y producido por María Paz González (Chile) y Gema Juárez Allen (Argentina), será parte en esta plataforma de coproducción y financiación. Allí podrán participar en mesas redondas y reuniones individuales.
