Ortofon is an analog audio products manufacturer, stared in 1918, responsible for many innovations in the analog field. Prior to being called Ortofon, the company was called Fonofilms A/S, and developed technology for synchronized movie soundtracks to the then-silent movies of the early 1920s. In the 1940s, Ortofon changed vinyl recordings forever by developing a cutting head capable of true HiFi
sound reproduction. Shortly thereafter, they developed the first Moving Coil cartridges which were capable of reproducing a full frequency range from these new recordings. Fast forward to modern day, Ortofon has developed hundreds of models of phonograph cartridges for every different application and is still the largest cartridge manufacturer in the world.
