The Birks Cinema Aberfeldy

The Birks Cinema Aberfeldy A community gathering place, serving food and drinks, and featuring a state-of-the-art cinema
(543)

In April 2013, The Birks Cinema re-opened its doors to the public as a wee friendly state-of-the art cinema, after a 20 year interlude. This followed a determined fundraising campaign by The Friends of The Birks Cinema which brought in generous support and donations from the Big Lottery Fund, the Scottish Rural Development Program, Creative Scotland, and many other donors, including a huge number

of Highland Perthshire residents. Together, they raised the £2.2 million necessary to purchase The Birks Cinema building and bring it back to life as a community hub, while retaining its iconic Art-Noveau exterior. Since then, The Birks Cinema Trust has worked hard at developing a friendly local community hub, both commercially and socially. This amazing project is still ongoing, so please keep an eye on our website - https://birkscinema.co.uk/ - Facebook and Instagram feeds for details of our film, music and live events programme as well as all the community activities hosted in our hub. So please, come along and experience the magic of the movies as they are supposed to be seen - in our cosy auditorium, enjoying our huge screen and superb sound system from the comfort of our roomy seats......

THIS WEEKEND is all about celebrating cinema. 🍿❤️ National Cinema Weekend gives us the perfect excuse to fill the Birks Big Screen with something for every kind of film fan. At just £4 a ticket this Saturday and Sunday, the hardest part is deciding what to watch first!

👨🏻‍🍳 Order up! Meet the young Anthony Bourdain before the books, television shows and worldwide fame in Tony, a warm, funny story of the formative summer that first threw him into the intoxicating chaos of restaurant life. Dominic Sessa is joined by Antonio Banderas, Leo Woodall and Emilia Jones in this critically acclaimed coming-of-age story. Get a taste for it and book your tickets today.

🧨 He tried rockets. He tried dynamite. Now he's trying a lawyer. After decades of defective gadgets and suspiciously unreliable ACME products, Wile E. Coyote has finally decided enough is enough. Will Forte helps everyone's favourite Looney Tunes underdog take the corporation to court, while John Cena steps up for the defence. The verdict? Coyote vs Acme is a blast—and a cracking National Cinema Weekend bargain.

⚔️ Still haven't seen The Odyssey? The gods are giving you another chance. Christopher Nolan's colossal adaptation of Homer's epic takes Matt Damon's Odysseus from the ruins of Troy through treacherous seas, mythical creatures and impossible trials on his journey home. Set sail to The Birks and get your tickets now!

💋 Nobody's perfect... but this film comes pretty close. On the run from the mob, two musicians disguise themselves, join an all-female band and meet the magnetic Sugar Kane in Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot. Starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, this classic is every bit as funny more than 65 years later. Catch it in our relaxed screening on Friday or make it your £4 National Cinema Weekend pick!

🦖 Dinosaurs are taking over The Birks this Saturday! Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, leading a fearless team on a secret mission to the island, where prehistoric creatures hold the key to a life-saving breakthrough. Get ready for heart-pounding action, jaw-dropping visuals, and a shocking secret hidden deep in the jungle in Jurassic World: Rebirth. Roar into The Birks this National Cinema Weekend—tickets are only £4!

🦖 Nothing quite like seeing a dinosaur on the Birks Big Screen 🦕

Join a brilliant cast led by Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey as they race against time to secure DNA from the planet’s three most colossal dinosaurs in a bold, fresh take that delivers everything you love about Jurassic.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “The craft is exemplary—it’s easily the best-looking, best-sounding film since the first. But it takes a deep, personal love of the medium for a director to deliver such crunchy impact, thrills, spills and euphoric highs.” - Daily Telegraph (UK)

Better yet, tickets are only £4 as part of National Cinema Weekend. 🎬

“It is the heart of our community.” 💙

When we entered BIFA’s Cinema of the Year award last year, more than 600 of you took the time to share what The Birks means to you—filling over 40 pages with stories, memories and some incredibly kind words. 🥹 We’ve revisited some of those comments as voting opens again this year, and they mean every bit as much to us now.

This year, we’d LOVE to make the Cinema of the Year shortlist—and we need your help to get there. 🏆
