FilmBath The heart of the film world in Bath & home of FilmBath Festival (previously Bath Film Festival)

The heart of the film world in Bath, FilmBath (previously Bath Film Festival) is the home of FilmBath Festival, the F-Rating, FilmScore, the IMDb Awards, Pop-up Screenings and more. FilmBath Festival screens an exciting mix of world cinema and UK film previews, filmmaker Q&A sessions and inspiring documentaries. With our F-Rating (https://www.facebook.com/F.Rated.org/) we champion women on screen

and behind the camera. We welcome short film submissions and run awards including the IMDb Script to Screen Award (£5,000 cash prize for the best script for a short film) and the IMDb New Filmmaker Award (£1,000 for the best short film). We also run film-making and animation workshops for adults and young people to support South West film-making talent and we work with schools and universities to foster appreciation of film culture for the future. Our acclaimed Sounds to Silents projects are a potent mix of silent film plus specially-composed live music - we have worked with Will Gregory of Goldfrapp, jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, and pop-art performers The Real Tuesday Weld amongst others. Through the year we invite people to join our FilmClub where we host fascinating films with great guests and an optional supper club. Our mission is to amplify diverse voices on screen and behind the camera.

✨ One of those FilmBath moments we’re still thinking about ✨

A couple of weeks ago we had the joy of welcoming Bath-based director Philippa Lowthorpe, alongside Helen Macdonald, award-winning author of H is for Hawk, for a post-screening Q&A at The Little Theatre Cinema.

And now, the film adaptation of H is for Hawk has just been nominated for a BAFTA 🎉

The audience was captivated as our Creative Director Philip Raby spoke with Philippa and Helen about the adaptation process, grief, nature and storytelling, and it’s brilliant to see the film receiving this recognition. Huge congratulations to everyone involved.

👽Bugonia:
Both audiences at The Little Theatre thoroughly enjoyed this highly anticipated sci-fi comedy, starring Emma Stone! The story follows Teddy, a beekeeping conspiracy theorist and his cousin Donny as they kidnap the CEO of a Big Pharmaceutical corporation, under the impression that she is an alien left audiences laughing and on the edge of their seats!

❤️Die, My Love:
Another big blockbuster at Bath Film Festival 2025 was this drama, thriller starring Jenifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson! The spine-tingling screening left our audiences at The Little Theatre waiting in anticipation as they were transported to the state of Grace’s mind, following the gradual unraveling of her grip on reality.

👑🧟‍♀️Queens of The Dead:
Two jam packed audiences adored both screenings of this LGBTQ+ comedic horror film! The story following a rag tag cast of characters get together to try and survive against all the odds – too many party drugs, heels that are too high, and men that are too straight. It was an exceptionally funny and incredibly shot debut film that our Bath Film Festival 2025 audiences loved!!

What an amazing experience this screening was! Not only the amazing showing of local filmmaker Ric Rawlin’s spine-tingling, supernatural thriller film Wild Swimmers, but the location alongside the River Avon and bathed in shadows behind the colonnades, this was an event to remember! Audiences had the rare opportunity to step behind the colonnades and experience film like never before!
