Bristol Bad Film Club

Bristol Bad Film Club Welcome to the Bristol Bad Film Club – a place where movie fans can come and behold some of the most 'unique' films ever put to celluloid.

Welcome to the Bristol Bad Film Club – a place where movie fans can behold some of the most ‘unique’ films ever put to celluloid. The worst thing a movie can be is completely unmemorable. When you watch a film, which is neither bad nor good, but is instead completely and utterly forgettable, takes up two hours of your life and gives you nothing back in return, apart from disappointment – then that

is completely unforgivable. At the Bristol Bad Film Club, we believe that great movies fall into two categories: they either have to be the very best… or the very worst. Whether they are Citizen Kane or Plan 9 From Outer Space, we believe that at the very least, a movie should entertain… and there is something wonderful about a truly ‘bad film’. Whether it’s the head-scratching dialogue, the shoddy special effects or acting that would not look out of place in a nursery school’s nativity play. Instead of ignoring these films and condemning them, the Bristol Bad Film Club is dedicated to showing them, and other cult films of their ilk, in all their terrible glory, and basking in their awfulness.

Bristol, get ready.

Underground blu-ray label Refuse Films is tearing across the country with the Get Tromatized! Live With Lloyd Kaufman UK Tour, and the chaos is making its way to on 18 January for a night of unfiltered cult cinema.

As part of this nationwide Tromatic takeover, Lloyd Kaufman, president of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger, returns to the UK for the first time in five years and brings his anarchic independent filmmaking spirit straight to Bristol.

Refuse Films invites you to Tromatize your Sunday evening as Kaufman appears in person to introduce his cult classic Tromeo & Juliet (1996) and deliver a live talk before the film.

After the screening, join him for a meet and greet signing at the Troma merchandise booth, where you can pick up exclusive fantoxic Tromabilia and get your Tromatic treasures signed by Lloyd Kaufman himself.

Neil Breen is back with a new film.

Good news: it looks like he's eschewing green screens for actual sets including, once again, his own home.

Also... he's put himself in a fighter jet.

Beetlejuice? Frankenstein? Dracula? Bah! They're for tourists!

If you're following us on Facebook, then we're going to assume you're looking for something a bit less mainstream and a tad more culty and weird this spooky season and Forbidden Worlds Film Festival might have the solution for you with The Big Scream: Six Feet Down Under happening next week at Bristol Megascreen!

Over two wild nights, get ready to dive headfirst into the pulse-pounding, rough-as-guts world of Ozploitation - a fair dinkum celebration of the grindhouse-style exploitation flicks that went troppo around the world in the 70s and 80s.

From bloodsuckers and demonic possession to ruthless poachers, gut-churning body horror and even a rampaging giant boar, you’ll see Oz like you’ve never seen it before.

FRIDAY 24 OCTOBER

5.30pm: LONG WEEKEND (1978): It’s man vs nature in this cult Ozploitation classic… but will this couple be found guilty?

7.45pm: NEXT OF KIN (1982): Described as ‘Suspiria Down Under’ - get ready for one of Australia’s most underseen genre films!

10pm: BODY MELT (1993): Get ready for unparalleled levels of body fluids... plus Harold Bishop from Neighbours!

SATURDAY 25 OCTOBER

5.00pm: FAIR GAME (1986): In the Australian Outback, a young wildlife conservationist is terrorized by bored poachers and decides to fight back!

7.30pm: THIRST (1979): A young woman is kidnapped by a cult of vampires who believe she is their messiah!

10pm: RAZORBACK (1984): Prepare for a new breed of terror with this classic creature feature... dubbed by some as the 'Australian Jaws'!

Francis Ford Coppola’s recent road show for "Megalopolis" is an attempt to dictate its legacy—and a misunderstanding of how fandom works.
