Cliftonwood open air cinema

Cliftonwood open air cinema The Cliftonwood Open Air Cinema organized by the Hotwells & Cliftonwood Community Association

Every year Cliftonwood hosts an open air cinema evening in Argyle Place Park. Aimed at families it's an opportunity to watch a movie under the stars, meet up with friends and to enjoy food and drink available from the Lion Pub next door. The Open Air Cinema was started as a fund raiser in 2005, to raise money for play equipment in the Argyle Place Park, and was so popular we now run it every Septe

mber. All the money raised goes towards maintaining the play equipment, and this year we need to raise funds for the football nets. The Park is enjoyed by many local children and their parents with the proximity to the Lion Pub being an added bonus.

It may be wet today, but the forecast for this Friday 16th Sept is dry weather, so we're going ahead with the Open Air Cinema.

Entrance is free, but we will be collecting money to install a Defibrillator at The Lion Pub, essential first aid equipment for our neighbourhood. Please donate on the fund raising page here https://communityheartbeat.enthuse.com/cf/hotwells-and-cliftonwood-community-association-def

We're also holding a Fancy Dress Competition - come dressed as a Circus character and you might win a prize, with thanks to the Red Pizza Company and Spar on Hotwells Road. Thanks also to our main sponsors, Estate Agents Alexander May.

Seating is on a first come, first served basis, so come early. We provide chairs but you're welcome to bring a rug to sit on the grass. The park also has easy wheelchair access but let us know ahead if you need disabled parking close by and we will save you a space. We discourage people from driving to Cliftonwood because street parking is very limited. Please walk or come by taxi to the park if you can.

The Lion pub next door provides takeaway food and drink. They will be serving sausages (both meat and veggie) and chips for the kids and curries for adults.

Cliftonwood Open Air Cinema organisers and the HCCA have taken the decision to postpone this evening's screening of The Greatest Showman, due to the bad weather and in respect of this period of national mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II. We will confirm a new date very soon, and we look forward to meeting up again as a community when the time is right.
